(Vicky Bremner photo) Brussels UCW finalize plans for birthday party The Brussels United Church Women met at the Huronlea on Wednesday, April 6 with 27 members, visitors and residents in attendance. Nelva Scott welcomed all and opened the meeting with the reading New Birth. Betty Campbell, who with Audrey Cardiff was in charge of the meeting, played several favourite hymns. Rene Richmond gave a reading about ministers and Mrs. Cardiff read a poem written by a woman in a nursing home. It was found in a drawer after her The Garden Party tickets will be $10. The date is May 15. Final arrangements were discussed for the June 25 birthday party to be held in the church basement. Mrs. Scott read some material from the UCW Huron-Perth Presbyterial meeting of March 21. The May Lions’ supper will be held on Tuesday, May 24 because of the long weekend. As well Mrs. Bernard had been contacted regarding the possibility of a cold meal to be prepared and taken to Cranbrook for A new coffee pot was discussed for the kitchen. May 29 there will be buses available for transportation to the London Conference Service of Celebration of Ministry in London at 10:30 a.m. There will not be a worship service that Sunday. Following the service in London, lunch will be provided in Melbourne. If interested in travelling by bus, contact Kathy Workman or Shirley Baker.
