Change of venue for garden party The annual garden party previously held by Klaus and Rhea Seeger near Auburn will be held this year at the home of Alex Berry and Michael Dawber on Goderich St., Auburn, across from the post office What a stretch of fine weather we have had. The land is dry, however, and while it is nice to see the farmers out doing what they wait all winter to do. which is work the land, the dust is flying high behind them. Spring showers are what we need or we may not get our May flowers. Unless, of course, you go to the Auburn Horticulture Plant Auction which is always a great place to get plants. I gave the start time as 7:30 p.m. which should have been 7 p.m. 1 was hoping I was going to have the first half hour by myself. 1 met the sweetest lady from Auburn this week, one Frances Clark. What a delightful lady. Next time I will make sure I have time for a cup of tea. I have already started the book she loaned me, and it is a masterpiece. Thank you Frances, and I look forward to our next chat. Nancy Park’s computer went comp-pooie (that is the technical term) and having remembered the write-up in the Auburn news keeping in touch with our young folks - she gave Peter Seeger a call and he fixed it right up. on Saturday, May 7. This fourteenth year’s event is open to all those who have previously been to the Seeger’s home as well as those invited as a friend of a friend. Bring your excess Auburn folks attended the annual Londesborough Songfest Sunday evening. The talent was amazing and a very enjoyable evening was had by everyone. Ruth Jardin along with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jardin of Kitchener visited Frances Clark this week. Bill and Leone Robertson attended the funeral of Mrs. Harold Kitchen, formerly Isobel Robertson - daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Robertson this week. The Blyth Thresher volunteers were busy this weekend restoring a log cabin originally built in the 1800s. The cabin was moved to the grounds last year. Auburn volunteers were among those who replaced the rt of this weekend. The Bauer family had a potluck get-together at Terry and Ann’s home near Whitechurch on Sunday. All the siblings and as many of the children who could be there had a great meal and fresh air. The place of honour went to husband Wayne’s nephew Patrick and his new bride Joyce who are just finishing their trip home. The couple live in Alberta and were married a week ago in Las Vegas. Dana Teed, son of Travis and Kim Teed of Walkerburn, along with classmates Dylan Williston, son of Cristine of Kinburn, and Andrew Riensma, son of Lawrence and Sandy of Clinton area, were building cars this weekend. Model cars - but cars none the less, and a serious effort by everyone. The three boys attend Hullett Central school and of seedlings, clumps of perennials or some over-achiever self-seeding annuals. Same rules apply: potluck, bring your own plate and cutlery. Plants should be labelled (always my downfall), and please don’t had been given this project by teacher Mr. Holland of Grade 6-7 using only reclaimed materials. What I saw was awesome. These young men have a firm grasp of the structural requirements of building with integrity - a lesson taught well by mechanic and dad, Travis Teed, of Teed’s Automotive repair shop located at 50 Picton St. in Goderich was the classroom for these lessons the boys will lake with them for years, because they were taught with dirty hands and lots of fun.
