NEWS FROM CRANBROOK Area farmers busy seeding The community extend sympathy to the family of the late Murray Huether. Murray was raised on a farm in the Cranbrook area. He lived and worked in Cranbrook before moving to Brussels. Murray took part in all community activities for many years. Viola Adams, Allan Edgar, Edna McLellan, and Neil Hatt hosted the Cranbrook card party on April l. Jim, Linda, and Leanne Minielly, Neil Hatt, Stewart and Madelene Steiss hosted the card party on April 15. Winners last Friday evening were John Subject and Marg Peebles with share-the-wealth. Lloyd Smith had the travelling lone hand. Myrna Burnett had the high ladies’ score and Allan Edgar the men’s high score. Those not so lucky were Beryl Smith and Gail Smith. Eileen Mann and Ross Stephenson had the most lone hands. Tally card winners were Jim Minielly, Lois McLean, Leanne Minielly, Shirley Verstoep, Keith Turnbull, Helen Dobson, Yvonne Knight, Alice Keffer, Adrian Verstoep, Verna Crawford, Neil Hatt, Viola Adams, Madelene Steiss and Judy Hahn. The farmers in the area have been busy seeding this past week. They are now looking forward to some rain as the fields are dry. Birthday wishes to Laura Saxon, April 22, Betty Knight and Amanda Morrison, April 24, William Knight, Apri 25, Peter Workman and Emily Baker, April 27. Best wishes to Gerald and Twyla Knight April 26 for their anniversary. Bill Kellington, centre, for Western Star Lodge, presents a cheque in the amount of $200 to Corrie Sholdice of the Brussels Skating Club and of $500 to Murray McArter for the BMG recreation board.
