Cultural agencies honour Goderich artist
Heritage Goderich and the Reuben
R. Sallows Gallery are presenting a
show of paintings and drawings of
the late Tom Pritchard (1878-1968).
The show opened officially on
April 1st and runs until the end of
May. The works on display come
from the collections of local
residents and organizations, as well
as the Huron County Museum.
Pritchard was the harbour master
of the Port of Goderich for many
years, and. not surprisingly, many of
his pictures have a maritime theme.
Visitors to the Gallery will see
paintings of the Goderich Harbour
as it existed in his day, and of the
many vessels that plied those waters.
Other works feature views of
Benmiller, Goderich, and the
surrounding countryside. Copies of
some of his noted Postcard Views
are on sale at the Gallery.
Pritchard’s life-long interest in art
led him to study at the Chicago
Institute of Art. His love of art was
and saved from further damage.
Pritchard was a long-time resident
of Goderich, and a founder of the
a dominant
factor in his life
from childhood.
Though very
accompl ished
as a painter,
Pritchard never
sold his works.
He gave them

relatives.
