Sallows Gallery are presenting a show of paintings and drawings of the late Tom Pritchard (1878-1968). The show opened officially on April 1st and runs until the end of May. The works on display come from the collections of local residents and organizations, as well as the Huron County Museum. Pritchard was the harbour master of the Port of Goderich for many years, and. not surprisingly, many of his pictures have a maritime theme. Visitors to the Gallery will see paintings of the Goderich Harbour as it existed in his day, and of the many vessels that plied those waters. Other works feature views of Benmiller, Goderich, and the surrounding countryside. Copies of some of his noted Postcard Views are on sale at the Gallery. Pritchard’s life-long interest in art led him to study at the Chicago Institute of Art. His love of art was and saved from further damage. Pritchard was a long-time resident of Goderich, and a founder of the a dominant factor in his life from childhood. Though very accompl ished as a painter, Pritchard never sold his works. Goderich City Hall were retrieved Finale The cast of Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat went through their final dress rehearsal Wednesday evening at the Town Hall Heritage Theatre. Opening night for the F. E. Madill Secondary School Drama Guild production was last night, Wednesday. Performances continue tonight (Thursday), Friday and two performances on Saturday. Curtain time is 7 p m. There is a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Tickets are available at Madill or from the theatre box office. Everyone welcome. ‘Doors Open Ontario ’ is back The province’s most popular heritage touring adventure, Doors Open Ontario, is back for a fourth season. And among the new participants this year are Brussels (Aug. 20) and Seaforth (July 31-Aug. 1) and Blyth with Goderich (May 28-29). During Doors Open Ontario events, communitites across the province open the doors of their architecturally-significant buildings and heritage treasures to the public, absolutely free. This year, there are 44 events across the province. The season kicks off April 23 in Guelph with events running on various weekends until October. “Doors Open Ontario has become a cultural phenomenon,” said the Honourable Lincoln M. Alexander, chairman of the Ontario Heritage Foundation. “It is a great educational experience for residents of the communities involved as well as a great tourism draw that boosts local economies and builds civic pride.” The free guide is available by calling 1-800-Ontario (668-2746).
