North Huron council briefs Council approves public works recommendations Several recommendations were contract for the East Wawanosh The contract for calcium chloride bridge inspection to the lowest bidder, B.M. The contract for an engineering study for Hutton Heights water and sewer went to the lowest bidder, B.M. Ross and Associates Ltd. for the cost of $2,900, plus GST. Greg Storey and Lloyd Michie will attend the Georgian Bay Waterworks annual meeting, April 14 in Owen Sound. Reigstration is $50 per person. Michie will also attend the watermain disinfection seminar March 23 in London. The reigstration fee is $175 plus GST. Council approved the implementation of new cemetery rates for North Huron effective July 1, subject to Ministry approval. Council accepted the contract of Joe Kerr Ltd., the lowest bidder, for the supply, crushing, loading and delivering of 19,000 metric tonnes of gravel to the specified East Wawanosh roads. The amount was $87,229.*** Bills and accounts in the amount of $572,701 were approved for payment.*** A bylaw to authorize the civil marriage solemnization service in North Huron received final reading. *** Clerk-administrator John Stewart will attend the Association of Municipalities of Ontario annual conference in Toronto, Aug. 14-17. The registration fee is $480. Councillors Jim Campbell and Arnold Taylor indicated they may attend as well.*** The township’s animal control bylaw will be updated to comply with the new provincial legislation regarding pitbulls.*** Council endorsed a resolution from the Association of Municipal Tax Collectors of Ontario urging the province to amend the legislation commencing for the 2006 taxation year to specify that once a property reaches current value assessment taxation it remains at CVA taxes regardless of the result of future assessments.*** Council authorized a charge of $5 for each document commissioned by municipal staff.*** Council adopted the revised operating and capital budgets for the Wingham and Blyth fire boards.*** The budget for the Belgrave Community Centre was adopted as presented.*** Doris Robinson was appointed as the municipality’s representative to the Belgrave community board.
