Students compete
in science fair

On March 23 the students of
Blyth Public School held their
second annual science fair.
Students from Grades 5, 6, 7 and
8 produced creative, thought
provoking and educational pro
jects.
Honourable mention went to
Grant Sparling who placed third for
his invention involving magnetic
levitation, Matthew Steele for
second place with his experiment on
flight, and Laura Peach who placed
Vandals target vehicles
On March 23 at 6:15 p.m. OPP
were advised of vehicle damage in
Howick Twp.
The victim told police that
someone entered onto the property
on Mill Street and smashed out the
passenger side window of a Ford
Tempo.
Then on March 24 at 5:15 p.m. an
officer was called to Ramsay Line in
first for her investigation on
pollutants.
Third place for the seniors was a
tie between Colton Kerr and Jared
Bjorkman’s project on steamboats
and Kenny Plunkett’s study of
electricity.
Second place went to Jessica
Sparling and Brandi Bearss’ project
on beans. Robin Nicholson and
Tasha Hubbard placed first for their
project on Zebra Mussels.
Five of these projects and their
creators will move on to regional
science fairs.
Morris-Turnberry over damage that
had occurred at approximately 10
p.m. on March 20. That night
someone entered the victim’s
driveway and smashed the driver’s
side window out of a red 1986
Toyota pickup truck.
The last incident was reported at
7:15 p.m. on March 24. The officer
found that a grey 1986 Chevrolet

On March 23 the Blyth Swinging
Seniors held their regular meeting in
Memorial Hall.
They were entertained by the
Blyth Public School band who
presented solos, duets and group
numbers. The seniors are pleased to
encourage this group in its music.
The spring rally is to be in Varna,
April 21. Anyone wishing tickets
should get them from Lawrence
Plaetzer before April 18. Cost is $7.
Jean Plaetzer announced a trip to
the Thousand Islands that the
Londesborough club is planning for
this summer.
Happy birthday to Aubrey Toll
who celebrated his birthday on
March 19.
Blyth Public School students are
selling magazine subscriptions. If
you wish to renew your
subscription, please let them know
and you will be helping the school
fundraise.
We are glad to hear that Kathy
Abell-Rinn was able to be home for
a few hours to be with her family for
Easter.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Easter Sunday, March 25 were
Doug Howson and Joann
MacDonald. The ushers were Lori
Van Wyk, Rob Mason and Doug
Howson.
The processional hymn, Christ
The Lord Is Risen Today was sung.
The choir, along with readers,
performed an Easter cantata.
Portraits of the Saviour. The choir
sang, His Name Is Life.
The Palms was sung by Cheryl
Cronin. The male choir sang ‘Tis
Midnight and On Olive’s Brow with
soloist Bodie Craig. Dane Corneil
sang a solo, Bold Peter.
The choir sang God So loved the
Celebrity left in the parking lot of
the Spruce Villa apartments on Main
Street in Zurich had been attacked
overnight and four tires on the
vehicle had been punctured using a
sharp object.
Huron OPP are continuing their
investigation into these matters. If
you can help call the local OPP or
Crime Stoppers.

Cappy Onn sang a solo The
Angels Rolled the Stone Away.
The ladies choir sang Let the
Heavens Be Joyful.
The offertory hymn was, Were
You There.
The anthem was I Believe in a Hill
Called Mount Calvary.
The last piece the choir sang was
He Rose Triumphantly.
The readers were Anne Elliott and
Rev. Bannerman telling the Easter
story.
The last hymn was Crown Him
with Many Crowns.
March break was an exciting week
for the Pierce Family as Brendan
was attending the Canadian Forces
Aircrew Selection Centre in
Trenton. He was successful in
meeting the standards for both pilot
and navigator. Congratulations
“Little Maverick”!

The Blyth United Church Women
met in the church parlour March 24
at 2 p.m.
Adeline Campbell opened with
worship. She read a story of Maude
Blanford, a lady who had terminal
cancer. Her cancer was allegedly
cured by faith.
Ollie Craig gave the study on the
robe Jesus wore.
The UCW is having the church
kitchen cupboards and dining tables
re finished.
The next meeting is April 28 at 2
p.m.
