A NOTE FROM BETTY

Happy Easter to you and yours.
I’m hoping that you had a nice
gathering with family and friends as
the weekend was set aside to do.
Catch up time for the wee extras
and odd jobs that seem to pop up as
we get ready to be or receive guests
were the order of the day for many.
Preparing for these gatherings is a
celebration in itself as the thoughts
of food and fun and in this case the
Easter goodies for the family give
way to lots of smiles as the
preparations showed results.
The celebration of Easter is all
about - the dullness of the dormant
grass, the lifeless trees and the
hidden bulbs and the miracle that
then explodes into our lives. New
growth, new birth, new thoughts,
new hope. Yes the world is
resurrected.
We go from the questions of the
everlasting winter to the wonder of
spring. As we ponder and
contemplate we get prepared to
celebrate the rite of spring.
Many of the holidays we celebrate
today have very long and
interesting, and at times
questionable histories. Over the
years stories arc told, some are not,
and we pick and choose what we
want to support and save and what
gets left to the archives.
Christianity has a varied past and
we have there too selected the
stories that serve us well. The Easter
story of death and resurrection goes
very well with the emergence of
spring and all its glory. The life,
death and risen Jesus of history
works well as we see hope in things
to come, comfort when things look
very dark and trust that we are loved
and cared for.
So last week Good Friday gave
way to the celebrations of Easter as
all about the dark thoughts and
deeds were replaced with hope, love
and trust.
Yes have a Happy Easter season.
Lots of visitors to the village were
seen out and about- as they caught up
with the news and views of the
village as they did the Easter thing
with family. The years pass before
your eyes when you see the teens of
your past coming home with their
own set of juveniles.
Yes life must be good, for it
certainly is going fast. It was great to
see you home.
The Citizen phone book in the
flyer package last week was another
nice touch, like a wave of June you
could nearly smell the lily it looked
so good. Thanks for the beauty with
function.
April always brings out the music
in our midst so take time and get
your tickets early for the Festival
Singers as well as several good
shows in our area. Check the ads.
There’s lots to do and see.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
