Laughter Good Medicine, theme of Day Out
Ladies are reminded to mark
Saturday. April 9 on the calendars
and plan to attend the 11th Annual
Women's Day Out. sponsored by the
Blyth United Church Women.
This year’s theme "Laughter is
Good Medicine" is being held at the
Blyth Memorial Hall and the
Bainton Art Gallery. Registration is
at 9 a.m. The programme runs from
9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Women's Day Out is for women of
all ages.
The keynote speaker is Gisele
Ireland of Teeswater. Many in
Midwestern Ontario will be familiar
with Gisele's humorous books.
Also present to tickle your funny
bone will be One Paul Brother and
Shirley of Kirkton. who will
entertain you with a combination ol
comedy and music.
Vocal and instrumental music will
be provided by the Keith Family of
Goderich.
A clown is always associated with
laughter, so Vai Mallough of
Goderich will entertain the women
as they arrive.
One of the highlights is always
the fashion show and (his year
promises something for everyone.
Styled to l it of Goderich offer
clothing selections for size 14 plus,
while Gibson's Men's Shop of
Wingham has something for the men
in your life. Northern Reflections
and Northern Getaway of Goderich
will have ideas for spring for both
women and the children.
Attendees are invited to visit the
many displays and demonstrations
that arc there to both educate and
entertain you. Participants include:

Walker, aromatherapy; Delores
South. reflexology; Kara McNichol.
massage therapy; Janis Voddcn, lai
chi.
Returning this year is the
smorgasbord lunch, as well as the

Blyth Festival Singers
set for Rhythm & Rhapsody
Tired of the long drab winter
months? The Blyth Festival Singers
can help to put a little liveliness into
your step with their upcoming
concert - Rhythm and Rhapsody.
The 40-voice choir will present a
concert of music at Central Huron
Secondary School in Clinton on
Sunday, April 3 at 2:30 p.m.
Choir director Robert Blackwell
has put together a varied program
including Canadian folk songs.
American spirituals and John Rutter
and Vivaldi classics.
Special guest will be the
University of Western Ontario
(UWO) Percussion Ensemble under
the direction of Dr. Jill Ball. The
Ensemble, comprised of percussion
majors, performs a variety of styles
with a focus on contemporary
percussion literature. The group has
recently collaborated with Les
Choristes, UWO’s women's choir
performing for a full house playing
contemporary percussion and Latin
pieces and singing and dancing in
West African styles.
The Percussion Ensemble's
performances include the 2003
Ontario Music Educators'
Association Conference in
Blyth Fesiival Singers members;
Blyth Festival Box Office, 523-

Comrades Norm Dobson and Jo-
Ann McDonald attended the Zone
spring convention at Hensail on
Sunday afternoon. It was an election
year but no one from our local
branches was elected.
Membership is in the spotlight this
week at the Branch. Who can belong
to the Legion?
There are three categories under
which membership is received. An
ordinary membership is open to any
person who is a Canadian citizen or
Commonwealth subject who has
served in Her Majesty’s forces in
any conflict which Canadian
Mounted Police and various other
military or forces department.
Service documentation is required
for application.
The second category is an
associate voting member. This is a
John Harrison.
The annual dues to be a member
of the Legion are $45 of which part
is kept by the Local Branch and
most sent to Provincial command.
Being a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion means to promote
unity among all who have served, to
foster the spirit of comradeship and
mutual help, to pass on their
knowledge to families and
descendants the traditions for which
they stand, to perpetuate the
memory and deeds of the fallen, to
promote and care for memorials, to
educate the public and to strive for
peace, goodwill and friend
ship.
it is the opportunity to work with
fellow comrades, with youth,
involvement in community
activities, sports, with seniors and
your general community.
The Brussels Legion would be
