Citizen reports
elose call to OPP
On March 20 Huron OPP received
a call from a citizen at
approximately 2:45 p.m.
The citizen ha,s been southbound
on London Road north of Blyth and
said he had nearly been struck from
behind. He reported that the Chev
pickup truck had then passed him
and continued on London Road.
An officer in the area spotted the
vehicle just south of Blyth. He
attempted to stop the vehicle and the
driver refused to pull over.
The vehicle continued into
Londesborough and pulled down
Elizabeth Street where the driver
fled on foot. After a foot chase he
was caught. The man was arrested
for impaired driving and taken for
breath tests that indicated he had
two times the legal limit.
Further investigation found that
the driver had been convicted on
other driving matters on Feb. 6. The
27 year old of Huron East has been
charged with impaired driving,
driving a motor vehicle with over 80
mgs., dangerous operation of a
motor vehicle, driving while
disqualified and failing to stop for
police.
The vehicle was impounded.
He was later released to attend
court in Goderich on May 16.
Police lay assault charge
On March 12 at 1 a.m. two
officers entered the Blyth Inn
investigating a report of a stolen
vehicle. They were told that a bar
fight had occurred only moments
before. One person was suffering
from a head wound and had been
taken to the Clinton Public
Hospital. He was admitted due to a
concussion.
The officers have learned that two
men had been at the bar. The one
male thought his friend was getting
into a fight with another, and struck
the other man in the head with a

It seems our government has lots
of money to help the car plants but
when it comes to the farmers they
don't seem to be listening. With low
grain prices and very low cattle
prices for the past year the farming
industry is in bad shape.
Many farmers don’t have enough
capital to put in their crops this
spring unless the government steps
in and helps out.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, March 20 was Doug
Howson. Ushers were Rob and
Karen Mason and Pat and Harvey
Bernard.
The first hymn O Worship the
King was followed by the prayer of
confession and the* assurance of
pardon.
Annie Sparling favoured the
congregation with a solo Where’re
You Walk by Handel.
The children’s hymn was
Hosanna. Loud Hosanna. Rev.
Eugen Bannerman and the children
marched down the aisle waving
palm branches.
One of the children rode the
donkey while one pulled and
another pushed.
The gospel reading was from John
12: 1-8.
Rev. Bannerman’s message to the
adults was Extravagant Love.
He began by quoting an ancient
Chinese saying that fragrance
always clings to the hand that brings
you roses.
Mary, sister of Martha and
Lazarus brought an alabaster jar to
where Jesus was reclining. Il was
not the custom back then for a
women to reline with the men. She
served the table and then backed
away to eat her meal in another
room.
This is still the custom in some
Middle Eastern countries.
Mary proceeded to pour the
expensive oil over Jesus's head and
feet and dried them with her hair.
Not everyone was impressed with
Mary’s actions, but Jesus defended
Mary and her showing of love for
Him.
Annie sang 1 Don't Know How to
Love Him by Andrew Lloyd
Webber.
Tom Dunbar gave the Minute for
Missions.
Those serving Communion were
Joan Clark, Judy Gleave, Lois van
Vliet. Ollie Craig, Doug Howson
and Enid MacDonald.
Annie favoured the congregation
with another solo Bist Du Bei Mir
by J.S. Bach.
We are sorry to hear that Cathy
