Ironmen hold 2-1 series lead
Continued from Page 9
Getting the markers for the Bulldogs were Curtis Chaput with a pair and
Mike Eadie and Shea Armstrong with singles.
Blinkhorn made 28 saves in the Wingham goal and Andrew Smith turned
aside 40 Wingham shots.
A pair of third-period goals, just over a minute apart, carried the Ironmen
to a 3-1 decision on Monday evening.
Coach Louie Livingston said this is the type of game he expects from the
Bulldogs.
"They are a good team. They play hard," he said.
The coach said it’s going to a long, hard series.
"It won’t be easy,” stated Livingston.
The coach said the Ironmen ran into penalty trouble in the second period
and as a result allowed the Bulldogs to get back into the game.
"(Jason) Blinkhorn played great for us,” he said.
According to Livingston, the Ironmen scored the two third period goals
because they knew they couldn’t lose this game.
"It was gut check time,” he said. “Our backs were against the wall.”
The coach said Hemingway is playing well and Stewart is working hard all
the time.
Matt MacPhee gave the Ironmen a 1-0 lead in the first period, with help
from Chris Stanley and Justin Russell.
Darryl Henderson tied the game in the second, on the power play.
Hill scored what proved to be the winner at 6:39 period three, with
O’Krafka and Stewart earning assists.
Luke Williams scored a 7:44 to make it 3-1, with help from MacPhee and
Russell.
