Ironmen hold 2-1 series lead If the first three games are any indication the final series of the Western Junior C Hockey League may be going the full seven games. After battling their way to a 3-0 decision in game one of the best four-of- seven series at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex on Friday evening, the Wingham Ironmen were handed a 4-2 setback by the Kincardine Bulldogs in game two, played Sunday afternoon at the Davidson Centre. The Ironmen scored a 3-1 decision on Monday at the complex to take a two games to one lead in the series. Game four is played tonight, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. in Kincardine, with game five going Saturday in Wingham, beginning at 8 p.m. Game six, if necessary, will go Monday in Kincardine at 8 p.m. and a seventh and deciding game will be played March 23 at 8:30 p.m. at the complex in Wingham. Matt Hill did all the scoring for Wingham in game one, with Cole Stewart of Bly th assisting on two of the three goals. Zack O’Krafka also picked up a pair of assists. Both Joel Hemingway of Brussels and Stewart said on Friday evening, following their 3-p victory, that it was going to be a long hard-fought series. "All the games are going to be close and low scoring,” stated Hemingway. “This is going to be a tough physical series.” He noted that the Bulldogs gave the Ironmen a game on Friday, but the Ironmen had a solid defence and the forwards were working hard. “This was the type of game I expect from Kincardine,” said Stewart after Friday’s contest. “It’s going to be like this the whole series.” He was not surprised at Hill getting all three Wingham goals, as Stewart said he was a good player. After scoring at 1:11 of period one, Hill added two more goals in the third period, one at 14:47 and then an empty-netter at 19:46. In the sixth minute of play in the third period, Hill rang a shot off the crossbar. But, he wasn’t the only Ironman to hit metal. With Matt McCann serving a four-minute cross-checking infraction, penalty-killer Matt MacPhee got a break-away and hit the post. Jason Blinkhom recorded the shutout in the Wingham net. The Ironmen took a 1-0 lead on the Bulldogs in the first period on a goal by O’Krafka, just 36 seconds into the game. Hill received the assist.
