At the Branch
Darters advance
By Jo-Ann McDonald
Congratulations to Ron Schmidt
and Andy Adams who were first-
place winners in the District doubles
competition in Hepworth. They
advance to provincial competition in
Newbury on April 2.
Also competing at District level
are Ken Bird and Eric Ross.
Thursday night darts at Brussels
Legion saw 15 darters take aim at the
boards. John Harrison and Catrina
Josling had six wins. Coming in
second were Julie Harrison and
Adam Smith. Tied for third place
were Sandra Josling and Gord
Jacklin, and Lisa Glanville and Tom
Warner.
It was a night for high shots with
Sheron Stadelmann shooting 121 for
both high start and high shot. John
Stadelmann shot a 171, high sHot
and Lawrence Machan shot 100 for
high start and 106 for a high finish.
Unfortunately Norm Dobson and
Sheron Stadelmann suffered the
second skunk of the year for the
league.
The Friday night supper of
chicken wings and fries had only a
small crowd. This week is roast
building its own mini-golf course
and any handyman that would like to
help should contact John Harrison.
Anyone with odds and ends of
carpet, plywood chunks or other
wood pieces they wish to get rid of
could donate them to the project.
Children who advanced to Zone
public speaking from the Branch,
competed this past week at Seaforth
Legion. Our Brussels children did an
excellent job at Seaforth and placed
very well.
In the story-telling section, Brody
TenPas placed second out of 13
speakers. Tory Kellington placed
third in the junior division and
Brianne Wheeler placed out of third
position. Congratulations to these
young people for representing the
Brussels Legion and the town of
Brussels so very well.
Silent auction sheets and
donations are soon due. They can be
dropped in anytime.
The cooking bee is set for March
26 and donations are gratefully
accepted.
Pop tabs are still gratefully
accepted and we still have walkers,
wheelchairs and canes for loan.
Lively improv
F.E. Madill drama students, Claire Mastnak, left and Montina Hussey, centre, along with a
student from Stratford were all talk during an improv exercise at a workshop from last week’s
Sears Festival. The centre person had to carry on a conversation with both of the other
participants who did their best to keep her attention. The workshop was led by Cappy Onn, an
actress and musician who lives in Blyth. (Bonnie Gropp photo)

Sunday four comrades visited
Harriston Branch 296 for indoor
mini-golf and a steak dinner. It was
great fun playing the course and a
delicious meal.
Enjoying the day were Lisa
Glanville, John Harrison, Rick and
Jo-Ann McDonald.
