Blyth Senior Tykes win three games in Clifford tourney
The Blyth Senior Tykes travelled to Clifford the last weekend
of February to compete in a tournament.
The team came home with three victories.
Blyth played its first game on Feb. 24 and scored a 7-1
decision over Elma-Logan.
Josh Van Soest scored three goals for Blyth, with Ashley
Higgins adding a pair. Single goals were collected by Dylan
Walton and Cory Ducharme.
Dalton Carey earned the win in the Blyth net.
In the team’s second game, played Feb. 26, Blyth outlasted
Chesley 7-5.
Curtis Raynard scored three times for the Senior Tykes.
Dustin Pennington chipped in with a pair. Scoring single
markers were Van Soest and Mackenzie Nesbitt.
Carey posted the win in the Blyth net.
Carey earned the decision in the Blyth net in their third game,
played Feb, 27. as they scored an 11-2 win over Wallace.

sweep Drayton
The Blyth Novices scored a 6-1
decision over Drayton on March 2 to
claim their series in three straight
games and move onto the next round
against Teeswater.
Alex Peters was involved in all the
Blyth scoring as he scored four
times and added a pair of assists.
Dylan Bromley had a goal and an
assist, with Dustin Pennington
chipping in with a single marker.
Spencer Stevenson picked up one
assist.
Mike Van Wyk earned
decision in the Blyth net.

In a league game played at the Blyth and District Community
Centre on March 5, the host team defeated Bayfield-Clinton-
Hensall 5-3.
Van Soest had two goals and an assist to pace the Blyth win.
Single goals were added by Hallahan, Pennington and Raynard.
Nesbitt received an assist.
Blyth Local League Atoms continue playoff competition
On Feb. 29 Blyth Atom Local League hosted Wingham.
Kennan MacDonald was solid in net, not allowing any goals
in the first two periods. The scoring began in the third period
when Wingham managed to score two goals. Blyth responded
with Steven Ellis putting one between the pipes.
Unfortunately, Wingham added one more goal to their total,
making the final score 3-1 in their favour.
On March 5 Blyth travelled to Wingham. Even though
Wingham managed to get on the scoreboard in the first period,
Blyth came out strong in the second period with Cody K
scoring once and Ellis scoring twice unassisted. The score was
tied 3-3 at the end of the second period. Blyth came out fighting
in the third with Ellis collecting a hattrick. Two of the goals
were unassisted, while the assist on the third went to Caroline
McDowell and Ronnie Vercruyssen. McDowell kept the
momentum going by adding another goal for Blyth. The assist
went to Cody K. With eight seconds remaining, McDowell
once again found the net, giving Blyth the victory. The final
score was 8-6 for Blyth.
Also instrumental in this exciting game were Nathan Verburg,
Jason Meier, Wes Thompson, Heidi Raynard, Alisha
Middegaal, Nick Brandon-Caldwell and goalie MacDonald.
