North Huron council to apply for COMRIF funding North Huron council decided at the Feb. 21 meeting that the Catherine Street road project was the highest priority under the COMRIF program for intake two. *** Bills and accounts totalling $341,950.86 were approved for payment.*** Council supported a 40 per cent property tax rebate for the 2004 tax year, for Town and Country Suppoert Services as an eligible charity.*** Membership dues for the Huron County Road Supervisors Association were authorized for payment in the amount of $150. *** Municipal staff are to contact Veolia Water regarding negotiating a contract to manage the Wingham sewage treatment plant, commencing Jan. 1. 2006. *** A new entrance site for the East Wawanosh landfill site, as specified by Ministry of the Environment requirements will be purchased. *** Council has authorized director of public works, Ralph Campbell to obtain a minimum of two quotes from an engineering firm to complete bridge inspections. Campbell was also given authorization to purchase mandated confined space equipment in the approximate amount of $9,000 from Ackland-Grainger. *** Clerk-administrator John Stewart said that discussions are underway with Hydro One with respect to the servicing of 300 additional lots in the Thresher's campground for Campvention 2006. *** Council had no objection to the severance application for Cone. 13. Part Lot 42 in the East Wawanosh ward, with the condition that a lot grading and drainage plan be completed. *** Council will pay its share of the cost of a new Hood plain mapping for Wingham/Lower Town by Maitland Valley Conservation Authority at a cost of $4,300 to North Huron. *** A resolution from Kincardine petitioning the province to ensure lair, equitable and sustainable funding for .conservation authorities to continue to deliver the existing programs and meet future challenges received council endorsement. *** Council also endorsed a resolution from the County of Frontenac asking the Minister of Labour to amend an Ontario regulation to include an exemption for paramedics employed by municipalities across the province. *** The resolution from Essex- Windsor asking for the elimination of the inclusion of in-kind newspaper advertising from the Canadian newspaper association and the Ontario Community Newspaper Assocation received council’s endorsement. *** One municipal staff person will attend the Ontario Water Works Association/Ontario Municipal Water Association joint annual conference and trade show. May 8- 11 in Ottawa.
