The Huron-Perth annual meeting
of the Women’s Missionary Society
of the Presbyterian Church was
held in the Avonton Presbyterian
Church on Feb. 21.
The Rev. Gwen Brown gave an
update on Camp Kintail in the
morning.
They have upgraded the water
system to bring it up to government
standards and now must raise
money to pay for it. They have
rented a house near the camp and
are fixing it to use for retreats. They
need kitchen supplies and
furnishings for the house.
The Listowel-Wallace group did
devotions and the Monkton ladies
gave the in memoriam in the
afternoon.
Susan Schlacht, audiologist from
Stratford was the guest speaker. She
told about going to Third World
countries with hearing aids for
children and showed pictures of her
work on the trips.
Giving reports from this area
were Elizabeth Stewart from the
Monkton church with the
treasurer’s report and Yvonne
Knight with the Children and Youth
report.
Legion breakfast
The Blyth Legion and Legion Ladies Auxiliary hold a breakfast the fourth Sunday of each
month at the Blyth Memorial Hall. Kennan MacDonald, Drew Wood and Patrick Wood were
three of those in attendance who enjoyed the breakfast. The next breakfast is March 27. (jim

speak-off
On Feb. 23 a number of students
from Grey Central and Brussels
Public School were storytellers and
public speakers at the Brussels
Legion. Congratulations to them all
as everyone did a great job. Parents,
grandparents and neighbours were
proud of the young people.
Chelsey Terpstra with her second-
place for storytelling was the top
Cranbrook student.
On Friday evening some area
residents attended the concert at the
Brussels Mennonite Fellowship
where Bryan Moyer Suderman
entertained with music. Rev. Theresa
McDonald-Lee and Jonathan had
their puppets performing during the
evening as well.
Other area residents enjoyed the
beet dinner at the Legion on Friday
night
Sympathy is extended to Marg and
Helen Hetherington on the passing
ot Marg's sister, Reta Hoogendam of
Brookville. Her funeral was on
Saturday.
A reminder for all to attend the
World Day of Prayer services this
week (in Brussels at St. Ambrose
Catholic Church or at the
Presbyterian Church in Monkton for
this area).
The results from the darts in
Cranbrook last week were: Annette
Lewington. high lady. 94 points;
Ernie Lewington, high man, 120
points. That’s keeping it all in the
family.
Murray Keffer reported that Brad
Stephenson attended for the first
time and scored 94 as if he had his
eves shut. Be sure to come again and
show Murray up. Brad.
Birthday wishes go to Lucy Hesse,
March 4; Elston Speiran, March 5;
Alison Terpstra, March 8; and Brian
Stevenson, March 9.
