Agriculture Brussels Livestock report Fed steers, heifers sell on strong trade Total receipts for Brussels Livestock for the week ending Feb. 18 were 2,211 head of cattle. 427 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold on a strong trade at prices $2 to $4 higher. Choice steers and heifers sold $88 to $93 with sales to $l 11; second-cut steers and heifers sold $79 to $85. The cows sold at prices steady to last week. On Thursday veal sold on a good active trade. Lambs sold on an active trade $2 to $5 higher. On Friday all weights and classes of stockers sold on a steady market. There were 478 steers on offer. Amos B. Their overall offering of forty charolais heifers averaged 1,353 lbs. selling for an average price of $92.36. There were 183 cows on offer. DI and D2 cows sold $27 to $34 with sales to $59; D3, $18 to $24; D4, $10 to $17. Peter Oudshoorn, Auburn, consigned eight beef cows averaging 1,386 lbs. which sold for an average price of $31.16 with sales to $43. One charolais cow consigned by Casey Klaver, Seaforth, weighed 1,410 lbs. which sold for $41.50. Eber Conboy, Perth, consigned one blonde cow weighing 1.445 lbs. which sold for $38. There were 13 bulls on offer sell­ ing $18 to $44.50 with sales to $61. Les and Deb Falconer, Clinton, con­ signed one limousin bull weighing 1,955 lbs. which sold for $61. One blonde bull consigned by Brad Vanstone, Goderich, weighed 1,895 lbs. which sold to Holly Park Meat Packers for $44.50. There were 147 head of veal on offer. FROM AUBURN Auburn WI plays euchre Despite the stormy weather on Feb. 17 the Auburn Women’s Institute hosted a very enjoyable afternoon. Delicious desserts were enjoyed first, then 11 tables were filled for euchre. Scrabble was also played by a few. Prizes, tally card draws and 50/50 draws resulted in a lot of fun. Last weekend, Bob invited his friends over to help lacquer his floors. It was a blast. The vapours from flammable solvents can easily ignite if they come into contact with sparks or open flame. They should only be used in well ventilated areas that are free from all ignition sources - including pilot lights.
