Morris-Turnberry considers zoning change
By Jim Brown
Citizen staff'
Morris-Turnberry council dealt
with an Official Plan Amendment
and a zoning amendment at a
meeting held Feb. 3 at the municipal
office.
The amendments were for part of
lots 15.1 § of concession 9 and l() of
the Turnberry ward. The property is
referred as the Turnberry pit.
Susanna Reid of the Huron
County Planning and Development
Department and Bert Dykstra of the
Huron County health and planning
committee were also in attendance.
Reid said the purpose of the
meeting was to change the
designation and zoning from
extractive resources to (ER l) to
general agriculture (AGI).
She indicated the property had
been used as a gravel pit and had
since been rehabilitated for
agricultural use and the licence
issued under the Aggregate
Resources Act had been surrendered.
The property is 84.5 acres (34.2
hectares) and is located on the east
side of Gilmour Line, between
Glenannon and Howick-Turnberry
Roads.
Reid said a letter had been
received from the Huron County
Health Unit and the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority. The MVCA
requested that a portion of the
properly be designated as Natural
Environment.
Clerk-treasurer Nancy Michie
reported no other comments had
been received.
There were no comments from
council.
Reid said a report from the
meeting was to be presented at the
county health and planning
