Letters were received from two
residents expressing objection to the
municipality performing marriage
ceremonies. One letter specifically
stated the concern of “same-sex
marrriages.”
Clerk-administrator John Stewart
noted that civil ceremonies have
been conducted in the past at the
town hall by a justice of the peace.
However, justices of the peace now
feel they do not have the time, thus it
has been passed to municipalities to
offer the service if they choose.
