THE EDITOR,
Wingham and District
Community Living
Association has partnered
with Charity Plus Promotions
to bring Wingham and
District a fun, interactive and
entertaining afternoon.
The Junkyard Symphony
will be coming to the Knights
of Columbus Hall in
Wingham on April 2. The
band will be performing on
greeted by Lavern Godkin.
During the children’s time
Rev. Joan showed them a
lovely teddy bear with red
hearts on him. She introduced
him as Stubear and he was
there to teach about
stewardship.
She began reading a story
about how Stubear is going on
a trip to Florahouse in
Winnipeg. He has a knapsack
with his toothbrush, notepad,
hairbrush and red scarf. She
read part of the story then
asked if Stubear could stay at
someone’s house this week.
Tyson McGavin is looking
after Stubear and can write in
the journal about what he and
Stubear will do together. The
story will continue next week.
The anthem, Come, My
Way, My Truth, was sung by
behalf of our citizens.
Your generosity and
personal commitment to the
United Way has made a
significant difference and has
helped us as an organization
to turn a corner. We believe
that this campaign is the first
of many future successful
campaigns.
At this time volunteers are
reviewing our member
agencies’ funding requests,
and will recommend how
instruments created out of
common household items (or
trash).
Members of Charity Plus
Promotions will be phoning
members of the community to
sell tickets or to enlist ticket
sponsorship.
Tickets purchased through
Charity Plus are received
through the mail, or
representatives will be
picking up donations in
Brian Black and Marion
Godkin. The scripture was
read by Rev. Joan.
The reflection was on
following Jesus. The journey
can be full of twists and turns,
meaningful joy and difficulty
or uncertainty.
Life is full of choices and
temptations.
People can follow Jesus
closely or from a distance, she
said. They can be loud about
their faith or keep it quietly to
themselves.
Jesus calls them to move
out of the shadows and love
as Jesus loved to share their
love and faith with others.
The congregation gathered
in a small group for
discussions on their own
experiences of following
Jesus.
