Photographs provide a constant
reminder of how things were. After
years of marriage, couples can look
hack at their wedding album to show
their grandchildren.
Through the years, the method of
taking photos has changed. At one
time, the only place a couple could
get their wedding photo taken was at
the photographer’s studio.
Digital photography has become
more popular and practical during
the past few years. While some
professional photographers have
been using digital photography for
weddings for just a few short years,
there are some who embraced the
new method when it was first
introduced back in the early 1990s.
Once the wedding was over, in the
old days, a couple would have to
wait weeks to get proofs to order
their photos for the wedding album.
Now, they can see the photos right
after they are taken and can decide
right then and there if they want to
keep them.
Photos no longer have to be posed.
With the smaller and lighter 35mm
digital cameras, photographers can
lake more candid shots of the bride
and groom, wedding party and
guests.
This results in a wider selection of
images to choose from, when
putting together a wedding album.
Some brides and grooms establish
their own website to give people a
chance to see the photos they have
selected.
As well as having a wider
selection of images, the images can
be cropped or enlarged to the
required size almost instantaneously,
giving the couple more control over
their photos.
Photographer Jim Snyder said the
couple has complete control over the
images he provides. Not only can
they select the photos they want off
the CD, but they can take the CD
home with them and then get photos
printed w'herever they want.
V illiam Mason has been using
digital photography for the past 15
years and now he has couples
creating their own webpages with
their wedding photos, allowing their
friends a chance to see the photos
before ordering.
With photos not having to be
posed, wedding photos have more of
a journalistic flair to them. He
added, the people in the photos can
be more relaxed, they don’t have
appear to be as stiff as they used to
be with a film photographer.
Digital photography will soon be
the only way to take wedding
pictures as it already has 90 per cent
of the overall market.
The beach at Kincardine as well as
the lawns of gardens of the stately
homes in area communities have
been some of the unique backdrops
for wedding party photos.
Photographer Gary Moon says
that even taking photos in a church
sanctuary, with the lighting coming
in from the stain-glass windows-can
be unique.

backdrops.
Even though some of the halls are
not conducive to wedding photos,
small town photographers are able
to work with what they have.
Moon added that as long as the
bride, groom, the wedding party, the
parents and the guests are all having
fun, it is a more enjoyable process.

Avoid stashing it in a hot attic, a
