Faith Story in words and song conies to Clinton
Christianity, Judaism and Islam -
what are the common roots of these
religions?
Faith Story is a presentation in
word and song about the birth of
these faiths. It has been described as
a wonderful weaving together of the
three traditions and an enlightening
way to see faith in a new way.
Faith Story is being presented in
Clinton at Ontario Street United
Church on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m.
The acclaimed production has
been described as dynamic, thought
provoking, spiritual and uplifting. It
was been well received by all ages -
from teens to adults and of people of
different faiths.
Rev. Barry. Moore of London, a
former president of Fanshawe
College and minister of the United
Church of Canada created Faith
Story. With his gift for words and
talent for playing the trumpet, Rev.
Moore collaborated with Alan
Davidson, also of London, on the
presentation. Davidson is organist
and choir director at St. Martin-in-
the Fields Anglican Church in
London. He is also known for his
jazz piano, and his keen sense of
humour.
The two men created Faith Story
to mark Rev. Moore’s final service at
the Dorchester Crumlin pastoral
charge. The presentation was so well
received that it has been performed
more than 20 times in United,
Anglican and Roman Catholic
Church settings.
The Outreach Committee at
Ontario Street Church felt it was
important to offer this presentation
as a community event, “especially in
light of the global village and how
we can better understand one
another,” notes Marion Peck.
There will be stories of the
prophets of the three religions -
stories of Jesus and Muhammad. The
presentation includes favourite
sacred music and an opportunity to
sing well-loved hymns.
