Sorry to hear that Grace Easom is a patient in Goderich hospital and Stan Giousher is a patient in Wingham hospital. We hope they will soon be home. Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, Feb. 6 were Barb Richmond and Fred Meier. Ushers were Rob and Karen Mason and Pat and Harvey Bernard. Guest musician was Amanda Schwartzentruber. The children’s hymn was Lord Listen to Your Children Praying. Rev. Eugen Bannerman asked the children if they had ever seen inside a steamer. He suggested some of the treasures stored in these trunks. The lectionary reading was Exodus 24: 12-18. The gospel reading was Matthew 6: 19-21 and the responsive reading was Psalm 2. Rev. Bannerman’s message to the adults was, Why We Keep Personal Treasures. Men and women keep very different kinds of objects. Some people are collectors of many different things, from family heirlooms to matchbook covers. A plant was presented to Betty Hesselwood for all her work in putting together the annual report. Get wired at local libraries The Huron County Library wants you to get wired. Bum up the computer keyboard by learning to search the internet, e- mail and other general computer details at the Blyth and Brussels libraries. In free one-on-one computer training sessions, a youth internet assistant will teach you the basics of using the computer. From simply turning the machine on to more advanced tips on viruses and downloading, the youth Internet assistant can help people from most computer literacy backgrounds. “The Community Access Program (CAP) is an initiative of Industry Canada to help people in rural communities access and learn the world-wide web. Federal funding for this training programs lasts until March 30,” said Beth Ross, county librarian. Internet assistants are between the ages of 15 - 30 and learn skills in the field of information technology, delivering CyberCamps and other Internet training sessions to various age groups plus promoting awareness of online information resources. Training sessions are available at various days and times in both Blyth and Brussels. Call the Brussels branch at 887-6448 or the Blyth branch at 523-4400 to book a session.
