folks who were at the lasagna dinner
that the St. Ambrose crew offered to
the community .on Friday. Good
food and good company on a winter
night - good combination.
Annual meetings are a time to
review the past. A time to ponder the
things accomplished, the things that
we could do better and the things we
need to work on. The balance
between the old and the new is a
time to review the journey. The
United Church held its meeting on
Sunday. We celebrated the new year
Yippee, February is here and
settling in. Each month has a
moment of significance in the
whole-year plan and while some
months are easier than others to like,
each one is always special in its way.
Maybe it’s because so many
people don’t like winter that I really
do like January and February. Or
maybe it's living in hope that I’ll be
storm-stayed at home. Or maybe it’s
the quiet solitude that comes after
the Christmas rush. And of course I
love Valentine's Day as it has a way
of reminding everyone to tell your
loved ones what they mean in your
life.
So enjoy the February days.
Good reports were heard from the

and once again we remembered -
the babies baptized, the young
people confirmed, the couples in
love that were wed and the lives that
we loved that are no longer with us.
We celebrated the lives in our midst.
The Super Bowl seemed to take on
new interest this year to a diverse
section of people. Chat about the
teams and the games were more
vocal leading up to Sunday’s game.
Perhaps the hockey heavies will
take note and see that no one is
indispensible before their ideas of
the game mess up next year’s games
as well.
Ottawa knows how to enjoy
winter. With a very concentrated
tourist push, the city goes all out to
welcome visitors to their winter
wonderland. They offer a place for
folks to enjoy the beauty of snow
and ice. Free bus rides take you to
the various activities, hotel specials
are inviting and the ice sculptures
are absolutely amazing.
If you need just a little more fun, a
skate or sleigh ride on the Rideau
Canal, the world’s longest skating
rink will just perk you up.
Bye now, Betty G.W.

Comrade Shirley Taylor is still a
patient in Walkerton hospital. We
hope she is feeling better soon.
