Local League Atoms down Seaforth
On Tuesday, Jan. 25, the Blyth Atom Local League
team travelled to Seaforth.
The first period of play was dominated by Seaforth as
they scored three goals in the opening period. However,
Blyth rebounded and dug in hard to ensure that these
were the only goals that Seaforth would score. Strong
goaltending by Kennan MacDonald and good defensive
play kept Seaforth from scoring in the next two periods.
In the second period Steven Ellis scored a goal to put
Blyth on the board. Heidi Raynard continued the
momentum for Blyth with a second goal, assisted by
Nick Brandon Caldwell and Nathan Plunkett. The final
score was 3-2 for Seaforth.
Bantam girls fall
The Brussels Bantam Girls travelled to Goderich on
Jan. 21 for an exhibition game. The teams were evenly

Saturday, Jan. 22 would be a much better day on home
ice. Teeswater/Belmore started the scoring early with a
goal 12 seconds in the first period. Brianne Wheeler
stopped the initial shot but Teeswater tapped in one of
the rebounds.
With 5:39 left in the first Jodi McIntosh popped one in
over the goalie’s glove hand to tie up the game. The
assist went to Kristen McArter. Two minutes later

Excellent playing by all the Blyth players made for a
very exciting game. Raynard did a great job in net,
making some big saves.
Blyth got on the scoreboard in the second period when
Cody K. scored, with the assist going to Caldwell. Later
in the second period Ellis scored an unassisted goal for
Blyth.
Early in the third period Ellis, assisted by Caroline

Ellis added one more to the board to complete his
hattrick.

scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 30 was cancelled. Brussels
was to send goaltender Brianne Wheeler and centre
