Jan. 26 the Biyth Swinging Seniors gathered at Memorial Hall for a potluck dinner and their regular meeting. A report on a Zone meeting was given by Shirley Nicholson. She reminded members that the spring rally is in Varna on Thursday, April 21. The president. Jean Plaetzer. announced that the club is invited to Huronlea on Tuesday. Feb. 8. Jean Nethery outlined plans for the annual June bus trip. Songs of the Oprey by the Walters family was the trip selected. Elva Brown, pianist, was in charge of entertainment. She gave a humourous reading and organized several games of euchre, complete with prizes. New members arc always welcome. There is a card party on Thursday. Feb. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Biyth Memorial Hall. All proceeds are going to Clinton Public Hospital. Come out and enjoy an afternoon of fun. Sympathy is extended to Suzanne and Randy Hamilton and family on the death of Suzanne’s mother Ann Jeanette Boshart who passed away Jan. 27. Sorry to hear that Ann Hollinger is a patient in Wingham hospital and Alvin Snell is a patient in Clinton hospital. Happy birthday to Fred Hakkers who celebrated Jan. 27. Happy birthday to Nan Gore who will celebrate her birthday Feb. II. to Evelyn Caldwell. Feb. 6 and Shirley Nicholson, Feb. 12. Greeting at Biyth United Church on Sunday, Jan. 30 were Larry and Myrtle Badley. Ushers were Brenda Brooks, Pat Bernard and Larry and Myrtle Badley. Guest musician was Margaret Kai. The choir’s anthem was Stand Up. Rejoice and Sing. The children's hymn. Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying was sung as the children gathered at the front of the church for their story time. Rev. Eugen Bannerman told them a story of Jesus healing the children who were sick and told them there is a time to be born and a time to die. The lcctionary reading was from Micah 6: 1-8 and the responsive reading was Psalm 15. Rev. Bannerman's message to the adults was Living with Illness. Living with Purpose. He told of a man living with Lou Gehrig's disease who had kept a diary of his illness. The love and support of family and friends is very important when a person is going through an illness. The annual meeting is on Feb. 13 at I p.m. FROM BLYTH OPP charge snowmobilers OPP over the past weekend were out on the trails doing snowmobile patrol in Huron County. Seven officers logged 673 kilometres. Seventeen charges were issued to snowmobilers, nine on Saturday and eight on Sunday. Tickets were for people using the trails minus a trail permit, failing to provide proof of ownership and failure to display permit (validation sticker on windshield). Also three people were asked to provide samples of breath into alcotests. All three passed the tests but did register some alcohol in their systems.) Officers will continue to monitor the trails.
