Visitors in the Grade 1 room at Brussels Public School
enjoyed the story being told by Nancy Roe of the Avon
Maitland District School Board, one of many guest readers
on hand to celebrate Family Literacy Day. In addition to
wandering throughout the school to enjoy various readers,
visitors could savour popcorn and drinks free of charge,

Well what story did the little
rodent tell about the upcoming
weather this year?
Making weather predictions just
doesn't seem to fit with the little
brown menace of our farms but it's
one of those myths that just keeps
going along. From statistics and
history the grade for weatherman
that the groundhog achieves barely
makes a pass but
continues. It’s always

This free, government-sponsored
number needs to be promoted and
used. So put the number on your
fridge and offer it to anyone with
health concerns. We need to
celebrate and support any efficient
use of our money.
Callander Bay was the place for
Brussels folks to meet last week for
winter recreation. Talk about the
odds - scooting across the frozen
water to see familiar vehicles and
then meet for a chat before returning
to the snow machines, the ice huts
and the fish. So be careful, someone
familiar is always just around the
corner.
