CAs select project manager Ausable Bayfield and Maitland Valley Conservation Authorities have announced the hiring of Cathie Brown. BA. MPA to the position of project manager for source water protection in the ABCA/MVCA Watershed region. Brown has a Masters degree in public administration and an undergraduate degree in geography from the University of Western Ontario. She is currently the executive director of The Ontario Rural Council (TORC) and is responsible for overall leadership of this non­ profit province-wide organization dedicated to facilitating rural networks. Previous experience with the County of Huron, Ministry of Municipal Affairs, London and MacLaren Plansearch of Lon­ don have provided her with the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills includ­ ing: developing partnerships, colla­ borative management, diplomacy, negotiation and facilitation, strategic planning, human resources management, working with municipal politicians and technical staff and financial and administration management. “The experience and knowledge Ms Brown has of our watersheds makes her an excellent choice for the position of project manager," said Allison Lobb. MVCA chair. Conservation authorities have been providing watershed management services in partnership with municipalities, stakeholders and landowners for almost 60 years. This wealth of scientific and technical expertise will be dedicated to providing source water protection planning to improve and protect the health of the Ausable, Bayfield and Maitland watersheds. Obituaries LINDA ANN KILLINS Linda Ann Killins (nee McLellan) passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2005 at the Henderson General Hospital. Linda was in her 57th year. She was the beloved mother of Erin, at home, and dear sister of Melody White (Sid) of Brussels, and Gordon McLellan of Dundas. Linda was predeceased by her parents. Maxwell and Audrey McLellan. Visitation was held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave., Hamilton on Jan. IO from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held in the funeral chapel on Tuesday, Jan.
