was quite young, when she, along with
the other members of her family went
to Williamstown, county of Glengarry,
and resided with their uncle, Laird Mc-

married Dr. Bowie, then of St. Eustache,

Montreal, and there held the position of
Immigrant Physician for the° port of
Montreal, from the year 1842 until

She was a highly accomplished and a
very intelligent lady. She was also a
sincere Christian and one iu whom the

Wednesday morning, close to Clinton,
resulting in the instant death of Miss
Kate.Deeves, daughter of Mr. John

the morning train north on the L. 11.

at once reversed the engine and whist -
thinking that she would at once
get off the track but as she happened

and before the train could be brought
U a stand, the engine had struck ber,
Wiling her instantly. One leg was
broken by the force of the blow and
ler head was somewhat cut. The body
was brought to the station and the Cor-

company from any blame in the mat-

She saw' the train when it was quite
