Or decorate with ribbons, ornaments, pine cones or dogwood for a welcoming focal point outside your front door. Floral designer Luann Taylor offers some step by step instructions to help you on your way. First purchase a floral cage from your florist. Once it's been soaked in water, begin the placement of your greens. Use them to determine the length for your swag. "Go for balance," said Taylor, who suggests using one-third at the top and two- thirds at the bottom. While you can find your greens outside, _ Taylor recommends purchasing B.C. cedar from a florist. "It's greener, fresher, just nicer." Other things that can be used are seeded eucalyptus, which can be spray-painted gold for a nice effect. Taylor said to build towards the centre, taking care not to have any bare spots. "You want it nice and full but leave room for the flowers.' The rule of thumb for placing flowers is to be able to place two fingers between them.
