All lined-up with care
Santa's reindeer were particularly well behaved this year at
East Wawanosh Public School's Christmas concert. From

were transporting Santa wherever he needed to be, which
on this day was outsmarting the Owlhoot gang. (Shawn

FROM AUBURN
WI meets
for season
The Auburn Women's Institute
celebrated Christmas- Dec. 14 at the
Community Hall.
President Erma Cartwright
welcomed all and Pastor Dave Wood
said grace.
A potluck dinner was enjoyed. Lots
of decorations and poinsettias made
the room very attractive.
Pastor Wood gave the Christmas
thoughts and message. He was
thanked and given a poinsettia. All
joined in a sing-song of carols.
For roll call some members brought
friends, some gave readings, jokes,
music and some paid. All joined in
the gift exchange and some
exchanged cookies.
The next meeting will be Jan. 18
with Marg Fraser and Betty
Archambault in charge of crafts. The
roll call is bring a craft you made.

most love around the world with his
many good deeds. Santa left his
usual gift for the Christ child, a list
of everyone who had been good
throughout the year.
Rev. Cook's message to the adults
was titled, Repent and Rejoice. In
Paul's Letter to the Phillipians, he
encouraged them to talk with God
and receive His peace and comfort.
Luke 3: 7-18 is an account of John
the Baptist teaching and baptizing
multitudes of people in the
wilderness.
John the Baptist was not the
messiah the world had been
awaiting, but folks flocked to him
for leading. His message to them
and to us is to look at life in a
changed way. The new outlook will
change our hearts, attitudes and
actions. The new outlook will bring
joy to life.
John's lesson was three-fold. First,
one must realize no one inherits
Christianity. Each must commit
individually. Secondly a repented
life is simple, quiet and practical as
in the ways of MOther Teresa.
Simple acts are possible in every day
living. John was afraid people
would/will miss the real Saviour.
Christians all have bridges to cross
when change is necessary.
The morning service on Dec. 24
will be a joint service at Knox
United in Auburn at 9:30 a.m. The
Christmas Eve service at
Londesborough United will begin at
7 p.m.
Rev. Cook has special services
planned for both times. The offering
collected on Christmas Eve will be
donated to the Mission and Service
fund unless otherwise indicated on
the envelope.
The weather has been extra nice
for getting around.
And I do know everyone out there
is getting around as every time I am
looking for a parking spot, everyone
from the country has been getting
around and got there first. It better
not be the same when I go for the
last drumstick — or worse yet, the
last piece of pumpkin pie.
Proud new grandparents, Allan
and Karen Webster of the Auburn
area called to report daughter Janice
and husband Clint Bryant of
Shelburne have twins. Born in
Toronto, Mount Sinai Hospital in
Toronto on Dec. 14,_ Madison
weighed in at 4 lbs. 13 oz. and sister
Meadow weighed in at 2 lbs. 13 oz.
Both are healthy, and are all ready in
love with big brother Cayden who is
helping with farm chores near
Auburn, and visiting Uncle Kevin
and Aunt Zoe in Toronto.
I would like to invite friends,
neighbours and those friends we
haven't met yet, to our home (37229
Dungannon Rd. - just east of
Dungannon), for my answer to an
open house; mine is more of an open
kitchen, Dec. 28 from 10 a.m. - 2
p.m. I trust we can find a glass of
apple cider and maybe even a dry
biscuit to serve up.
Until then, have a wonderful
Christmas. Please keep our service
people in your thoughts and
prayers.
And don't drink and drive — my
kids are using the roads, too.
Now get out there and show that
turkey who's boss!
