Huron Perth Atom Lakers have busy week
The Huron Perth AAA Minor
Atom Lakers have had a busy and
mixed week of hockey action.
On Tuesday, Dec. 12, the team
travelled to Stratford to play
Brantford and came away with a 2-0
victory.
Scoring in this effort were Kenny
Huether and Keirnyn Campbell.
Evan Chaffe picked up an assist.
Solid in the Lakers' net was Ben
Larder.
Three days later the team was
edged 2-1 by Cambridge in
Cambridge.
Huether scored for the Lakers with
assists going to Chaffe and Lucas
Spence.
The next day was a different story
again as the Lakers played Waterloo.
Home ice advantage didn't help the
Waterloo squad as the visitors
soundly defeated them by a score of
5-1.
Huether picked up a hattrick, with
Cullen Mercer and Nathan Smith
adding to the tally as well. Assists
went to Campbell and Chaffe with
two apiece, Mykal Hodges and
Spence.
It was a great team effort that
ended Waterloo's six-game winning
streak.
The following day it was a loss as
the team played Kitchener in
Clinton.
Getting the lone goal for the
Lakers in this 2-1 effort was Huether
with Haydn Favacho earning an
assist.
Brussels Tykes play at John Labatt Centre
Last Saturday, the Brussels and
Elma Logan Tykes travelled to the
John Labatt Centre for a 45-minute
game on the Knights ice. All the
players from both teams are present.
The plays went back and forth with
lots of shots on both nets. The final
score was a 3-3 tie. Goals for Brussels
were scored by Logan Kellington
(two) and Delayna Smith. Assists
went to Noah Terpstra, Cody Harding
and Kailey Wheeler. Great attempts
were made by Connor Bridge, Avery
McArter, Noah Terpstra and Hudson
Smith. They were assisted by Daniel
Fritz, Konrad McArter, Bennett
Newell, and Wyatt Machan.
Providing defence were Bennett
Newell, Jamie Perrault, Ceara
Hiemstra, Ronan Jared, and Dean
Scarrow.
Goalie was Derrick Waechter.
While no penalties were to be called,
Kellington did end up in the penalty
box for trying just a little too hard to
get the puck back from an Elma
Logan player.
The London Knights player on the
ice with the kids had a good laugh,
then joined Kellington in the box for
some words of wisdom.
Refs Tyler Deitner and Zach Hoegy
enjoyed the game as much as the kids.
After the Tyke game, Wyatt
Machan was chosen to stand on the
blue line with the starting line for the
Knights during 0 Canada.
All the players and parents stayed
