The winners of the Brussels
Business Group Peace on Earth
Christmas basket draws, were Jim
Lodge
enjoys
turkey
supper
The Christmas meeting of
Morning Star Rebekah Lodge was
held on Tuesday, Dec. 12 with 24
enjoying a turkey supper with all the
trimmings at JR's.
Members took a short walk across
the street to the Lodge hall.
For the meeting the Lodge had
guests, Sisters Margaret Reynolds
and Brenda Wendt, from Crystal
Lodge in Waterloo. Also attending
were Sisters Lillian Moses and
Leola Harrison, members from
Listowel.
Christmas cards were sent to
Sisters Mary Elliott and Norma
McNair of London, Lillian Moses
and Leola Harrison of Listowel and
Linda Jacklin of Goderich. A
birthday card was sent to Sister
Leona Connelly.
Receipt and thank yous were
received from Huron-Perth
Children's Aid Society and local
area hospitals for donations.
Brother Bill Kellington celebrated
a December birthday.
Laughter and song was part of an
enjoyable Christmas program.
Gifts under the tree were
exchanged and also secret sisters
revealed.
Stephenson of Brussels and Lorraine
Gough.
There are two more draws, Dec.
15 and Dec. 22.
The joy of the season continues as
the tunes of the time dance in our
heads. Music from choirs, tunes
from children, melodies from our
many machines just make each day
better and better a the traditions of
Christmas soar.
Families gathered over the
weekend to celebrate. In the
Christian tradition the seemingly
usual birth of the wee baby Jesus is
the reason we gather to celebrate
each year. This was a birth that has
been celebrated in many ways for
over 2,000 years.
This one ordinary life spent in
ordinary ways has had the most
influence, worldwide of any human
baby.
So it's no wonder we continue to
marvel at each birth and child in our
midst. Only God knows the potential
in every living person. So as the
week unfolds don't forget to
celebrate all the lives that make your
world so much better.
A talk show host commented this
week that we have five seasons now.
I think perhaps she's right. We do go
from autumn into Christmas
followed by winter and spring. I like
it.
As we look forward to the week
ahead may you enjoy the company
around you and pause to remember
the reason that we gather and not get
all spun out over details that by next
week won't matter one bit. Big
breath in, pause and do just the
necessary things that make
Christmas happen and leave all the
other stuff for another time.
Merry Christmas, Happy
Holidays, Bon Fete and may all the
loves in your lives be with you in
spirit, and hopefully body in the next
few weeks.
May the Blessing of the Season be
yours.

Milking it
The farmer, our hero and star of the play at Brussels Public School's annual Christmas
concert does some pre-play milking with one of his cows here. Although it doesn't quite look
like the traditional method of milking a cow, Emily doesn't seem to mind. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
