FROM BLYTH Scott welcomes reeve to 'close- knit group' By Bonnie Gropp The Citizen Deputy-reeve Murray Scott extended congratulations on behalf of council to new North Huron reeve Neil Vincent at the inaugural meeting of council Dec. 4. - "We are a close-knit group and we've not had a new leader in our time together. But we look forward to the next four years with you," said Scott, shaking Vincent's hand. Scott also joked about the new term to be served by • municipal politicians. "The four-year term seems to strike home this time. We may really be wondering what we've done." Vincent responded by thanking some of the councillors for their input and support. "They have given me some background and I appreciate that." In his inaugural address Vincent said he was pleased to have five experienced councillors working with him and was looking forward to working with them for the betterment of North Huron residents. The first order of business was the election of the second county council representative, who would serve as deputy-reeve for North Huron. Councillor Archie MacGowan nominated Scott for the position once again. In response, Scott said, "By and large I have given this considerable thought, looking at the four years again and my to do list at home, if anyone else wishes the position I won't be offended. If it is the wish of this council that I take this position I will accept... and hopefully last four years."
