On Nov. 3, the village welcomed
Margaret Elaine Fraser. Elaine has
purchased the former home of
Marion Snell and all of us are
pleased to have her in our midst.
Raised in the Clinton-Brucefield
area she is no stranger to Huron
County. An accountant by
profession, Elaine, worked for Glen
Hayter in Clinton for a time. More
recently she has been living and
working in Aylmer. Ms Fraser is
currently employed in the finance
department of Miser Lighting in
Goderich.
A series of unfortunate events has
Rev. Pat Cook was pleased to
introduce to the Londesborough and
Auburn joint service on Sunday,
Nov. 19, her friends, Bill and Karen
Butt. Bill and Karen work for the
Christian Council of Mozambique
and their work is supported by the
UC Mission and Service fund.
During the children's time, Karen
spoke to the boys acid girls about the
differences between their situation
and that of children in Africa where
they work. Many children there are
not able to go to school because they
have to work for their family. Girls
must keep a supply of clean water on
hand for the family and sometimes
need to walk several miles for it.
Boys have other jobs like gathering
firewood and gardening.
She noted that in churches of
Mozambique music is made with
shakers and drums and the people
dance and clap during the services.
Bill read two scriptures about
small miracles. In 2 Kings 6: 1-6
Elisha is miraculously able to
retrieve a lost ax head. It was
necessary for Jesus to try a second
time to restore the sight of a blind
man in Mark 8: 22-26.
Bill and Karen recognize the work
they do in Mozambique constitutes
small miracles for people who need
filled villagers with sadness and
concern recently.
After a month in a coma, OPP
Officer Dave Mounsey succumbed
to the injuries he suffered in an
accident on Oct. 14. His death has
impacted the family of Carl and
Lena Nesbitt and his spouse, Brenda
(Nesbitt) Carey. Friends in the
village and area will miss his
presence at gatherings.
Last weekend villagers learned
that Ray Brock had passed away
suddenly Saturday, Nov. 11 at the
Stratford General Hospital following
a major stroke. A memorial service
was held in London Saturday, Nov.
18.
Villagers learned with sadness
early Monday triorning that Hank
Reinink has lost his valiant battle
with cancer. He slipped quietly away
at home. His attitude during his
battle has been an inspiration to us
all. All of us will miss him.
The update on Sunday morning at
church was guardedly optimistic
around the health of Harry Lear.
so much. As well it becomes
necessary at times to make more
than one attempt to have success.
The country of Mozambique is
still in a post-war phase and the
Christian Council is involved in
helping the people restore schools,
homes, farms, flocks and crops.
They supply building materials,
bicycles, seeds, sewing machines
and knowledge.
The Butts noted that all village
residents, men and women and older
children, help with building projects
because they recognize the end
result will benefit the whole village.
HIV-AIDS is known in
Mozambique as the 'virus that never
sleeps'. One person in three over the
age of 15 is infected and girls have a
50/50 chance of becoming infected.
Karen oversees the education of 50
girls, aged 10 to 14 in six villages,
about HIV. By teaching them about
the disease and improving their self-
confidence, the hope is these
particular girls will teach others and
slow the progress of the disease.
Bill's experience is in the field of
communications and journalism. He
works to develop drama and video
resources for the fight against
HIV/AIDS.
The Butts have spent seven years
Harry stopped in to pick up his paper
on the way home from Clinton last
Wednesday morning. As he headed
across the highway in the heavy fog
he was t-boned by a car headed
north.
A third car driven by Lora Goode
stopped at the stop sign was also
involved. Both women drivers were
taken to Clinton, checked out and
released.
However, Harry was airlifted to
Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto to
the ICU.Harry's health is fragile at
the best of times ,and the concern
was for a head injury and his heart.
By the time you are reading this,
Harry may have been released from
Sunnybrook and be well on the road
to recovery. The word is, that typical
of Harry, his spirits are good. All of
us here in Londesborough and area
send good wishes.
Condolences are extended to B.J.
and Angela Cullen. Both of them
lost a grandfather in recent weeks.
Long-time village residents will
remember Ange's grandfather as a
in Mozambique and are planning to
return for another three-year
commitment. They feel they have
been instrumental in small miracles
for the people there. During their
presentation they showed illustrative
slides and a video Bill produced
with Karen's girls that is being
broadcast on television there and in
many small villages using a
generator.
Corey Pollard and Barb Bosman
played piano and organ duets for the
pleasure of those gathered that
morning. The senior choir sang the
anthem, Father Almighty.
The sacrament of Holy
Communion will be observed on
Nov. 16. The annual White Gift
Service will be held on Dec. 3.
The UCW Christmas potluck
meeting will-be held at 6:30 p.m. on
Monday, Dec. 4 at the church.
Donations to the Friendship House
are welcomed that evening. Women
of the community are welcome to
attend.
This year's UCW Christmas
fundraiser is now available for
purchase. These coffee mugs filled
with coffee, teas, hot chocolate and
sweet treats are $10 each.

former resident.
Mr. Bowie lived at the north end
of Londesborough on the property
now owned by Bob and Edna Reid.
He had been a patient in the Exeter
hospital for some time.
Nine members of the Cheerio
Club and one.guest met for a noon
meal on Nov. 15 at the Betty Cardno
Centre in Clinton. Musical
entertainment that afternoon was
provided by Jim 'and Elaine Scott.
Dorothy Johnston began the
butiness part of their gathering with
a serenity prayer. Humorous
readings were the roll call reply.
Following the treasurer's report,
the ladies decided to make a
donation to the Betty Cardno Centre.
Marie Glousher won the gift of the
month given by Geraldine Dale.
Card games were enjoyed for a
time before the women adjourned
until Dec. 20.

- Sample - In May of each year, the Ontario
pupils in Grade 3 and 6 take part in
education quality testing in
numeracy and literacy.
These tests will help to determine
the quality of the education in our
province.
The results of these tests help
teachers and schools pinpoint areas
of education needing greater
emphasis in the daily curriculum.
Recently the results of the 2006
testing have been released to each
school so they all can see how
they're doing.
Hullett Central Public School
results show the pupils there in both
Grades 3 and 6 exceeding the
