and corn bore.
The other big issues has been
mold because of the wet weather.
"There has been a lot of variability
so the concern is that mold produces
mycotoxins which affects the value
for livestock feed or in food market
corn."
A survey however, has shown
much less, of mold in the crop here
than in south-western Ontario. "We
have been fortunate that way in this
area," said Hall.
"So yes, while there have been
some issues with corn, it has been a
bumper crop."
The crop that has probably driven
farmers crazy this year, he said, has
been the edible bean crop. "It was
ready in mid-September, but that
was when the wet weather set in,
resulting in a non-ending aggrava-

However, Hall said that 85-90 per
cent of that crop has been harvested
now. "And although there have been
some issues with the quality the
yields are good. The growers did an
exceptional job of getting out there
to get the crop off considering the
frustration with harvest. You need a
lot of patience with edible beans and
that was tested this year."

Beef cows sold $37 to $47 with sales
a crop that has been one of the best
in recent years. "There are good
prices for wheat into next year, but
we haven't been able to get the crop
planted. In terms of what has been
