Grey Central Public School has a
new school council. Alicia Deitner is
the new chair, Marie Blake is the
past chair, and Lori Martin is
secretary. They are still in need of a
treasurer. If anyone is interested or
wants to know more about this
position, contact the school.
The 2006/2007 school council
hopes to further enhance and
promote the community of character
that exists within the school. They
look forward to involving the local
community in this endeavour, and
working with fellow school councils
to achieve these goals.
As teachers are preparing for the
first term's report cards, the school
council and students are busy with
many activities, events and
fundraisers. Both the girls and boys
volleyball teams are travelling to
Wingham on Nov. 23 for a
tournament.
Mr. Bartlett and his student band
have been enthusiastically practising
to prepare for the Christmas concert
which will be held on Dec. 19. They
are also looking forward to
participating in the Brussels Santa
Claus parade. Any other school
children interested in riding on the
Grey Central School float are asked
to contact the school.
For the Christmas season the
children will be selling cheese as a
fundraiser.
They are again planning the
annual Christmas dinner for the
children on Dec. 13. This is an event
unique to Grey. Dianne Diehl is busy
organizing food and volunteers. On
this special day all the children meet
in the gymnasium and are served a
turkey dinner including stuffing and
all the trimmings. All costs are
covered by donations and served by
parent volunteers.
The children very much look
forward to this exciting day.
My sincere thanks to
the voters of the
East Ward for your
support on
November 13th.
I look forward to continuing
to work with all the
constituents of Central
Huron, our staff and the
members of your newly
elected council.
