Co-Op Gallery prepares
THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2006. PAGE 27
or holidays
The artistic elves of the Goderich
Co-op Gallery have been busy
preparing for the holiday season.
Not only are the Co-op holiday
cards available but many new art
works will grace the walls and
tables of the gallery.
Also four artisans will have tables
of work during November and
December - Art Doughty's wooden
Christmas ornaments, Ed Hoekstra's
wooden bottle stoppers, Joyce
Whitten's Cernit dolls, and Dayna
Wagner's pottery.
In November Marnel Muller will
continue the Co-op tradition of
showing student art. Eloquent with
words as well as art, Muller credits
her South African, as well as her
Colborne Central Public School
teachers, with artistic inspiration.
She also enjoys learning from her
mother while exploring new media
in private lessons.
Also in November the guest artist
is Monica Eckert from Seaforth.
Having attended St. Anne's Catholic
Secondary School in Clinton she is
presently studying studio art and
psychology at Concordia University
in Montreal. After completion of her
undergrad degree, she hope to
continue her studies with a master's
program in art therapy.
Renowned Goderich architect
John Rutledge will round out the
Co-op's fall lecture series on Nov.
11, at 7:30 p.m. at a cost of $5. He
will explore the folk art treasures of
Huron County.
Much of his information will be
drawn from a book compiled and
written by Bev Walker for the Blyth
Festival Art Gallery. A show of
historical contemporary and
immovable work was presented in
1991 at the Blyth Festival Gallery
with the assistance of John Rutledge
and the Huron County Museum.
A membership in the Co-op
Gallery allows you to be the first to
hear about all the activities of the
gallery, and these memberships are
still available.
Be sure to visit the Goderich Co-
op Gallery, to see and hear all the
excitement. A working artist is
always on duty, Monday to Saturday
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 54
Courthouse Square. Call 519-440-
0523 for details.
