through conservation.
ANDREW FLOWERS
Newcomer
Andrew Flowers is
seeking the
position of
McKillop ward
councillor for
Huron East.
Flowers said he
wanted to
participate in
municipal
government to mediate the issues
between the ratepayers and the
municipality.
The most important issue facing
council is to listen to the ratepayers
and to be accountable.
His personal goal is "to listen,
learn and participate in all areas of
municipal politics."
Challenge: Finding time to eat well on the run
Solution: Stock up on some tasty foods that are easy to grab on the go such as
raw fruit and vegetables, yogurt, milk, cheese, whole grain muffins or crackers,
and bite-sized cereals. Keep whole grain breads, bagels, pita bread or tortilla
wraps handy; stuff them with salad greens and low fat salad dressing topped with
cooked eggs, poultry or meat, tuna, salmon, or beans (chickpeas, black or kidney
beans). Take along a travel mug or thermos of soup.

DAVE JOSLIN
Dave Joslin is seeking the position of Grey ward
councillor for Huron East.
Joslin has been a candidate in four federal elections
for the riding of Huron-Bruce and a candidate in one
provincial election. He is a member of the board of an
electoral district association for a federal party and
participates in the Ontario council meetings for a
federal party.
He is running for councillor at the urging of
neighbours and residents of Grey, he said. "I want Grey
to be a place where I can live, where my neighbours can live— a place
people want to live."
One of the most important issues is business, whether it is manufacturing,
the service industry, retail or farming. "We need to create an economic
climate that is friendly to business. Jobs are necessary here for our young
people and for people who can no longer farm."
"My personal goal is to help Huron East run as efficiently as possible,
keeping expenses and therefore taxes, as low as possible."
JIM FLOYD
Jim Floyd decided the time had come to seek the
position of McKillop ward councillor asthe incumbents
had decided to retire. "Sharon and Ferg represented the
ward well. But now it is time for new faces with new
ideas and input."
Floyd is a businessperson who has served on the
Seaforth BIA, and on the boards of both the Seaforth
Ag Society and McKillop Mutual Insurance.
As a councillor, he "would listen to the ratepayers of
McKillop as to what they feel needs to be done in the
ward and present constructive input to council so ways can be found to
best resolve concerns."
Floyd feels it's important to make Huron East attractive to industry so
there can be growth and opportunities for youth.
"We need to find ways to get the ratepayers of all wards working
together," he said, adding that there needs to be involvement with
promotions for the municipality to attract visitors.
"There are many challenges facing Huron East in the future and I
would like to be part of the team working towards solutions for those
challenges."
