still undefeated
Broda had a nice breakaway and
scored a goal for his team.
The second period saw several
players digging for the ball and
many attempts to score, but neither
team could get the ball past the goal
line.
Blyth's goalkeeper Murray Dale
made several fantastic saves and
played an excellent game in net to
earn a shutout against Seaforth.
The final score was a 2-0 win for
the Rollers.
Coaches Rob "Dutchie" Kolkman
and Cheryl Souch were very pleased
with the team's solid effort. The
players went out and gave their very
best effort, working hard at playing
their positions.
Mike VanWyk, with assists to
Spencer Stevenson and Wyatt Carey.
Stevenson skated in, unassisted to
score the first goal of the second
period. Then VanWyke, with a pass
from Ryan Nesbitt to set up the play,
increased Blyth's tally to four. Josh

The Blyth Atom Rep Bulldogs
took on Zurich at home Oct. 29 and
scored a resounding victory.
The visitors were unable to get by
goalie Dustin Treble, while
offensively Blyth scored seven.

The Blyth Rollers are a team of
nine - 11-year-olds from Blyth and
surrounding area.
After having only three practices
these young players were keen to hit
the ice for their first game of the
season against the Seaforth PeeWees
at the Seaforth arena on Wednesday,
Oct. 25. Both teams sent their first
lines out for the face-off at centre
line, the ball was dropped and the
game began.
Halfway through the first period
Blyth's winger Lexie Smith passed
the ball to her teammate Laura
Souch who ran in and scored to put
the Rollers on the scoreboard for
their first goal of the season. With
only 45 seconds left in the first
period the Rollers centre Hunter .
Lakers
post
2 losses
It was a losing weekend for the
Huron Perth Minor Atom Lakers as
they faced the Cambridge Hawks in
Brussels .and the Elgin Middlesex
Chiefs in Clinton.
Saturday's game at the BMG
arena ended in a 4-3 loss for the
Lakers. Scoring fOr the Huron Perth
squad were Evan Chaffe, Cullen
Mercer and Kenny Huether.
Assists went to Mercer, Blether,
Nathan Smith and Chaffe.
The gap was even wider on
Sunday at the Clinton Community
Centre. Scoring for the Lakers in
this 4-2 effort were Wyatt
Ducharme, unassisted, and Chaffe,
assisted by Mercer.
The Lakers played Wednesday
night in Kitchener against the Jr.
Rangers. They will travel on
Saturday to play the Hamilton Reps,
then are back in Clinton Sunday to
play the Lambton Jr. Spitfires.
The Saugeen Maitland PeeWee
team representing the Saugeen and
Maitland watershed area remains
undefeated in the South Western
Girls Hockey League A PeeWee
level.
The girls played four games this
weekend out of the Howick arena
coming away with two wins over
London and two wins over Sarnia.
This leaves them with a record of
five wins and one tie in league play
so far this year and makes them the
only undefeated team left in the
division:
The team draws players from
Oliphant, Shallow Lake, Owen
Sound, Tiverton, Kincardine,
Ripley, Fordwich, Blyth and Alma
areas.
In the double header on Saturday
against London the scores were 8 -1
and 3- 2 for Saugeen Maitland. In
the first game two goals each were
scored by Taylor Gilkinson
The Novice Brussels Bulls went
down to their second defeat of the
season Oct. 28 at the hands of the
Zurich Thunder.
Zurich fired in three goals in the
first period of play, two from Mitch
Finlay and one from Tyler Meurer.
Wyatt Machan put Brussels on the
scoreboard in the second, with an
unassisted goal at 6:33.
But the Thunder returned with
two unanswered goals from Finlay
and LaPorte, and led 5-1 at the end
of the period.
Brussels put up a good fight in the
(Fordwich), Marcie Landman
(Alma), Dollee Meigs (Owen
Sound). Singles were scored by
Hannah Davidson (Kincardine) and
Laura Irwin (Ripley).
In the second game goals were
scored by Davidson, Abbey Gibson
(Ripley) and Sara Gossell
(Tiverton).
In the double header on Sunday
against Sarnia the score" were 5-2
and 4-2 for Saugeen Maitland.
. In the first game a natural hattrick
was scored by Meigs with singles to
Davidson and Caroline McDowell
(Blyth).
In the second game two) goals
were scored by Davidson with
singles to Laura Irwin (Ripley) and
Meigs.
The girls are heading to the
Waterloo Ravens tournament this
weekend and then are off to Windsor
on Nov 11 for more league
action.

the Zurich squad soon put the fire
out and kept the puck in the

Tiffany Deitner displayed superb
goaltending, blocking shot after

Zurich offence proved too hot to
handle. Finlay put in his fourth of
the game at 2:15 making the final
score Zurich 7, Brussels 1.
VanSoest scored unassisted to finish
the middle period.
Blyth added two after the break off
the sticks of VanWyk and Nesbitt
with Matt VanWhy assisting on the
Nesbitt goal.
Dogs
edge
Seaforth
The Blyth Atom Local League
Bulldogs edged Seaforth away. on
Oct. 26.
Dalton Carey was solid between
the pipes for his team in this 3-2
effort.
Seaforth got on the board first,
holding Blyth back through the
period.
Then in the second Dylan Bromley
skated in unassisted to tie it.
The game stayed that way until the
third, when Seaforth managed one
'more, and Blyth tallied two. Scoring
were Conor Rodger and Bromley
with Josh VanSoest assisting on
both.
