On November 13, 2006 Municipal Elections
will be held in the Township of North Huron
Offices for which the vote is to be held:
• Reeve - One (1) to be elected
Education Trustee for the:
• French Language Public District School Board #58 - One (1)
to be elected
• French Language Separate School Board Area #1 - One (1)
to be elected (Must be eligible to vote for school board trustees)
Voting shall take place at the:
• North Huron Wescast Community Complex, Wingham on
Monday, November 13, 2006 between the hours of
10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. for electors of the Wingham Ward.
• Blyth Memorial Community Hall - Bainton's Gallery, Blyth on
Monday, November 13, 2006 between the hours of
10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. for the Blyth Ward.
• Belgrave Comfnunity Centre, Belgrave, on
Monday, November 13, 2006 between the hours of
10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. for electors of the East Wawansoh Ward.
An Advance Poll shall be held at the:
• North Huron Municipal Office, Wingham on Saturday,
November 4, 2006 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
for electors of the Wingham and East Wawanosh Wards.
• Blyth Memorial Community Hall - Bainton's Gallery, Blyth
on Saturday, November 4, 2006 between the hours of 10:00 a.m.
and 5:00 p.m. for electors of the Blyth and East Wawanosh Wards.
Any person whose, name is on the Voting List or who has been added
by revision may vote for a maximum of one (1) candidate per office.
Proxy applications shall be approved by the Clerk of the municipality
at the North Huron Municipal Office and the Blyth Memorial
Community Hall on Saturday, November 4, 2006 between the hours of
10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. A person appointed a voting proxy shall
complete an application in the prescribed form including a statutory
declaration that the person is the person appointed as a voting proxy.
A person appointed a voting proxy must be entitled to be an elector in
the municipality. A person appointed as a proxy may only act for one
person who is not a relative but can act as a proxy for any number of
relatives (spouses, parents, children, grandparents and
grandchildren). No application shall be approved by the Clerk after
5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2006.

The Taste Trek brochure offers
consumers 28 specialty foods

counties linked by the Shakespeare
to the Shoreline travel routes. This
new brochure is available at Tourism
Stratford, Tourism Goderich as well
as the retailers' shops and boutiques
and hotels in the region.
The Taste Trek specialty foods
driving tour brochures provide an
excellent way of shopping during
the fall, in preparation for holiday
celebrations and gift giving for the
people who are hard-to-buy-for.
Stratford offers a wealth of shops for
fresh and preserved foods and
accessories for serving. Fourteen
local retailers are included in the
2006 Taste Trek brochure, along
with shops in ,Shakespeare, St.
Marys, Sebringville, Seaforth,
Clinton, Goderich and Bayfield.
The Taste Trek shops and routes
offer travellers a chance to tour, taste
and linger, dining along the way,
taking an afternoon or creating a
full day of delightful distractions. •

along Lake Huron's shores. Taste
Trek stops and shops and the seven
themes: Antiques & Collectibles,
Artisans and Art Galleries, Farm

created to offer a selection of top-of-

Shakespeare to the Shoreline is a
travel experience created by regional
partners: Tourism Stratford, Tourism
Goderich, Perth and Huron Counties
travel associations along with
significant local municipal support.
It has proven to be a very useful
travel program for county residents
who are welcoming visiting family
and friends for a stay throughout the
year.
Since most of the Taste Trek
retailers are open year 'round, local
hosts have found the variety of
routes and themes to be visitor-
friendly, with easy-to-follow
directions, not too far from home-
base.

Officer taken to London
following crash in Lucan
I WILL LISTEN TO YOU
For the second time in just over a
week, a Huron OPP officer has been
injured in a motor vehicle crash.
On Tuesday Oct. 24 at 7:45 a.m.
Const. Jeff Walraven was involved in
a three-vehicle collision which
occurred on the main street of Lucan
at the north end.
According to police, the driver of
a Ford Taurus was southbound on
Richmond Street entering the
construction zone in Lucan. The
driver of a VW Jetta was following
the Taurus.

As part of ongoing efforts to both
increase parent involvement in
schools and increase awareness of
bullying, the Huron-Perth Catholic
District School Board is hosting
what it's calling a Professional
Development Day for school
councils on Saturday, Nov. 18 in
Clinton.
Entitled Imagine a School Without
Bullying: Parents and educators
building safe and healthy schools,
the morning-long symposium will
feature a presentation from a
keynote speaker followed by
breakout sessions. The keynote
speaker is Stu Auty, founding
administrator of the Vanier School
for Young Offenders in Brampton
and the former chair of the Ontario
Safe School Task Force.
At a regular board meeting
Monday, Oct. 23, education
superintendent Dan Parr provided
trustees with updates on both
initiatives:. anti-bullying and
parental involvement in schools.
"All the research is showing that
when parents are involved in
schools, not only do their children
achieve at a higher level, but all of
the children in'the school achieve at
a higher level," Parr said.
All schools in the board recently
received a "parent involvement
library," including about 25 books
exploring topics which might be of
interest to parents becoming
involved in their children's school.
And Parr reiterated the invitation
for parents to attend the school
council event on Nov. 18 at St.
Anne's secondary school.

Cunningham, 39, of Lucan, was

Connolly of Kippen, 46, sustained
minor injuries.
Walraven, 41, was transported to
LHSC Victoria Hospital in serious
condition.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision
Investigators attended the scene. The
investigation is continuing.
Main St. in Lucan was reopened
at 11 a.m.
Const. Dave Mounsey was
critically injured while responding
to the scene of an accident on Oct.
14 at 9 a.m. His cruiser went out of
control on the slushy roads. Grey
Twp. firefighters attended at the
scene and Mounsey was air-lifted to
London.
Special PD day for school councils
