Novice Dogs open
season with win
On Friday, Oct. 20 the Blyth
Novice Bulldogs played a great first
game against Brussels in Brussels.
Amy Boyce and Franklin Marshall
played well in net for Blyth.
Drew Bromley started the scoring
with an assist by Hunter Dale. Dale
then scored, assisted by Bromley.
Shortly after Dale scored again,
bringing the score to 3-0 for Blyth.
Brussels Caitlin Scarrow scored
with Emily Mitchell earning assists,
to bring the score to 3-1. Nic Zwep
then scored unassisted to bring the
The Huron Perth Minor Atom
Lakers suffered their first loss of the
season, Oct. 21 against Sun County
at Windsor Ice Park.
The final score was 6-4.
Scoring for the Lakers were Evan
Chaffe, Nathan Smith, Mykal
Hodges and Kenny Huether. Assists
went to Chaffe, Smith, Huether,
Cullen Mercer and Kiernyn
Campbell.
The next day was a better story as
the squad played the Windsor
Spitfires at the Adie Knox Arena in
Windsor and whitewashed the team
5-0.
Scoring were Wyatt Ducharme,
Mercer, Huether, Chaffe and
Hodges.
Assists went to Mercer, Huether,
Chaffe and Campbell.
The coaches said the team played
an excellent game, coming out
strong and using the loss from the

Blyth fire chief Paul Josling
accepted a certificate solidifying his
status as a certified building code
official at Huron East's council
meeting on Oct. 17.

A cost estimate and proposed work
plan for the 2006 annual monitoring
of the Walton landfill site was
discussed.
The plan quotes a grand total of
$22,535 in costs, a small point of
concern for some councillors.
Although some councillors thought
the figure was a little high, treasurer
Brad Knight said that council has
generally been pretty happy with the
work and that figure should be down
next year.

For Brussels' upcoming 135th
anniversary celebration. council has
approved funds to include fireworks
in the ceremony. Most councillors
had no problem approving these
funds, citing that that the turnout at
Grey's 150th anniversary was very
strong and that a similar turnout from
the people of Brussels is to be
expected.
Deputy-mayor Bernie MacLellan
jokingly said that he'll allow the
funds once every 135 years.

McLachlan- announced there had
been no appeals to the Huron East
zoning bylaw and the official plan
ammendment for the bylaw.
McLachlan said that this was quite an
acheivement.

Brussels at 5 p.m. on Saturday
against the Cambridge Hawks, then
they host the Elgin Middlesex
