Madill Secondary School's commencement on Friday night. Top achiever Tyler Jutzi, son of Jamie and Lynn of Brussels was the winner of the Governor. General's award at F.E. Madill Secondary School's commencement on Friday. Jutzi was valedictorian and was one of two recipients of the George Menzies award for graduating Brussels students who are going on to post- secondary learning. The other recipient was. (Vicky Bremner photo) 7 tables in play at Cranbrook euchre The Friday night euchre at the Cranbrook hall was hosted by Allan Edgar, Viola Adams, Neil Hatt and Edna McLellan. There were seven tables at play. The following were the winners: travelling lone hand, Allan Edgar; share the wealth, Neil Hatt and Stewart Steiss; high lady, Leona McDonald; low lady, Joan Jacobs; high man, Beryl Smith; low man, Lloyd Weber; most lone hands, lady, Verna Crawford; most lone hands, men, Lloyd Smith. The lucky tally winners were: Judy. Hahn, Marion Harrison, Helen Dobson, Keith Turnbull, Leota Thompson, Mary Davidson, Isabelle Craig, Ross Stephenson, Dorothy Dilworth, Adrian Verstoep, Linda Minielly and Stewart Steiss. - The next euchre will be held on Nov.'3 at 8 p.m. The award is given by the Governor General to the student with the highest standing in the graudating class. In addition to being an Ontario Scholar, Jutzi was the, recipient of several -other awards, including the proficiency awards for 4U chemistry and mathematics. Well done Lindsay Malhiot received the Morris Ward Graduate Award at F.E. Madill Secon- dary School's com- mencement on Friday night. The award goes to a graduating student who resides in the Morris ward of Morris-Turnberry and who has contributed to positive school and community citizenship. Lindsay is the daughter of Lori and Mike of Belgrave. (Vicky Bremner photo) He took home the Huron Perth Real Estate Board Award given to a graduate proceeding to post secondary studies in the business field. Jutzi was among the recipients of Student Council Awards given to graduates who have given something of themselves back to the student -body by their participation in the three prongs of the Big M — academics, athletics and activities. He was also a Big M recipient, 'having earned three intermediate awards for academics, athletics and activities, or having earned two awards, one with double the points needed. Jutzi and Amy Bishop were the recipients of the Menzies Endowment Fund Awards. This is presented to applicants Award Kyle Gibson received the Brussels Community Development Trust Fund at F.E. Madill Secondary School's annual commencement on Friday night. Kyle is the son of Tammy and Duane. Bishop also took home the Oldfied Memorial Arts Scholarship given in memory of Jeanne Oldfield to a student who has obtained a high academic standing, is a graduate of Brussels Public School or resident of Brussels, who is proceeding to further education in art, English or music. Bishop was also an Ontario Scholar. Other locals receiving scholarships were: Amy Recipient Carnerra Yuill was the recipient of the Garniss Family Award and the School Council Trustee and Student Trustee Award at F.E. (Vicky Bremner photo) Cook, Michelle Andrew Memorial Scholarship, top male and female track athletes who have been accepted at a college or university; Kristal Beer, Rieman Award, presented to a deserving student entering first year at the University of Guelph; Kyle Gibson, Brussels Community Development Trust Scholarship, for a graduate of Brussels Public School who exhibited good citizenship while at Madill and who has proceeded to further education in the technical field, either as an apprentice at college, and Matthew Dinning Memorial Award, presented to a graduatewho has exhibited strong leadership potential, contributed positively to the school and community and above all_ has shown service above self; Camerra Yuill, Garniss Family Award, to a resident of the Belgrave area, who has exhibited good school citizenship and has contributed positively to the community through involvement in community activities and School Council Trustee and Student Trustee Awards, to a member of the student council who was the student representative on the school council and the student trustee for Madill on the AMDSB for 2005-2006; Josh Albrechtas and Jacob Ouw, Madill Secondary School Teaching Staff Awards, to recognize deserving graduating students who have demonstrated high scholastic standing and/or good school citizenship; Lindsay Malhiot, Morris Ward Graduate Award, to a graduating student who resides in the Morris ward of Morris-Turnberry and has contributed to positive school and community citizenship; Yvonne DeWit, Mustangs on the Move, to graduating students who have contributed positively to life at Madill and who have now moved on to post-secondary education or. the workplace; Amy Cook, OSSTF District 8 Scholarship, to a good school citizen who contributed positively to the school both academically and extracurri cu I arty. Leanne Elston, Jill Johnston, Malhiot, Procter, Rouw and Yuill. Beer, Cook and Justine King were among those who received the Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship. This is presented in recognition of outstanding academic achievement to _students proceeding to an Ontario college or university. Proficiency awards went to: Lindsay Watson, Grade 10; Kerissa Van Amersfoort, Cindy Ireland Memorial Award in Grade 12 College English; Amy Cook, exercise science and Andrew Procter, construction technology.
