Ralph and his mom, Alma have
returned from a good visit with the
Dane clan in Grand Prairie, Alberta.
When friendships span years the
connection remains strong even
when visits are not as frequent as
one wishes.
Kaye (Irwin) Dane started her
connection to Alma when she came
to Orange Hill in Howick Twp.
many years ago. Distance, time and
life have not separated them and so
this Octobcr visit was one of many
over their lives. The travellers are
both glad to be home.
The hockey crew is into routine
and ready for another season. Drop
by the community centre to see the
action.
The Halloween decorations are
fun to view — both in daylight and
dark.
It's interesting to see how the fun
of the time has spread to take in the
weeks before Oct. 31 and no longer
just the day itself.
Bye now, Betty G.W.

Lame
duck
stalls
library
decision
By Shawn Loughlin
Citizen staff
Hands are tied all around the
table for the most part with Huron
East council right in the middle of a
lame duck period, but they're doing
what they can with what they
have.
The ever-present topic of the
Brussels Library was brought up
again this week.
Members of council spoke
on behalf of the citizens of
Brussels who want to know
what is happening with their
library.
Finalizing plans for the library
would take large amounts of funds
council said, and because of the
lame duck period, council cannot
approve those kinds of funds.
Brussels councillor David Blaney
said that the people he had talked
with were not in favour of moving
the library beside the arena.
Mayor Joe Seili brought up two
options for the future, considering
the opinions of the Brussels
residents of whom Blaney
spoke, that there could be
renovations to the library or a new
structure could be built very close to
the old one.
"People want the library
downtown," Blaney said.
Blaney then asked fellow
Brussels councillor Frank
Stretton what he had heard on
the topic, and Stretton agreed
with Blaney saying that moving
the library beside the arena was a
very unpopular idea among the
citizens.
