Get up, stand up
On Oct. 16, residents of Brussels participated in the Millennium Campaign's goal to set the
first-ever Guinness world record for the most people to stand up against poverty. Oct. 17 was
the International. Day of Poverty Eradication, and in the two days preceeding it, people stood
up against poverty in record numbers. More information on this worthy cause can be found at

Eat Smart! in Huron County
Eighteen eateries in Huron
County are the Eat Smart! Award
winners for 2007.
The annual award celebrates
restaurants and cafeterias for
offering healthy food choices on the
menu and a healthy environment for
customers.
Locally, the Huron County Health
Unit awards restaurants and
cafeterias that have a range of
healthier dining options (including
more healthy food choices), an
excellent track record in food safety
and a 100 per cent smoke-free
environment.
For 2007, restaurants needed to
reach a new standard of healthy food
choices. The health unit looked for
more fruits and vegetables on the
menu.
Healthy eating, the prevention of
food-borne illness and smoke-free
living all contribute to good health.
This is what Eat Smart! is all about.
The awarded restaurants are:
Bayfield Berry Farm, and Docking
