Award winners for 2007. The annual award celebrates restaurants and cafeterias for offering healthy food choices on the menu and a healthy environment for customers. Locally, the Huron County Health Unit awards restaurants and cafeterias that have a range of healthier dining options (including more healthy food choices), an excellent track record in food safety and a 100 per cent smoke-free environment. For 2007, restaurants needed to reach a new standard of healthy food choices. The health unit looked for more fruits and vegetables on the menu. Healthy eating, the prevention of food-borne illness and smoke-free living all contribute to good health. This is what Eat Smart! is all about. The awarded restaurants are: Bayfield Berry Farm, and Docking Joe's Pub and Eatery, Bayfield; Deli-licious, Clinton; The Ridge, Goderich. and Eddingtons Casual Fine Dining, Eat Smart! is supported by the Exeter; Fireside Cafe, Wingham; Nutrition Resource Centre, the Hessenland, St Joseph's; Redwood Ontario Division of the Canadian Restaurant, Clifford; Stickers Cancer Society and the Heart and Restaurant, Auburn; Terry's Family Stroke-Foundation of Ontario.
