The Minor Atom Lakers enjoyed a
big victory over the Hamilton Reps
during Goderich Laker Day,
Saturday, Oct. 14.
The final score was 7-2.
Kenny Huether led the offense
with a hattrick. Kiemyn Campbell,
Mykal Hodges, Evan Chaffe and
Nathan Smith each tallied one
goal.
Chaffe and Huether earned two
assists, while Campbell, Cullen
Mercer, Eric Macphee, Hodges,
Lucas Spence, Drew McKee and
Wyatt Ducharme had one each.

Brussels' Ducharme had the first
game misconduct for boarding early
in the third period, meaning he
unfortunately spent the remainder of
the game in the dressing room.
He was also only allowed to
participate in the warm-ups on
Sunday against the Kitchener
Rangers. He was in the stands to
watch his teammates skate to a 3-3
tie.
Mercer scored two of the goals
while Hodges scored one. Assists
went to Campbell, Dylan Nafziger
and McKee.

The Huron Perth Major Midget
Lakers AAA hockey team recorded
two more wins on the weekend to
extend their winning streak to six
games. The team continues to hold
down third place in the Alliance
League with six wins and one loss.
Saturday night the Lakers
defeated the Chatham Kent
Cyclones 8-2 in Goderich.
Goals were scored by Chris
Holmes with two, Kurtis Bartliff
with two, Colin Thompson with
two, J J. Sparling, and Lorenz
Guntzenperger. Receiving assists
were Bartliff with two, Andrew Van
Brussels Brook Wheeler made 28
saves in net for the Colgate Raiders
in what proved to be a losing effort
against Providence College Friars
Oct. 15.
The Raiders got on the board first
with a powerplay tally, but
Providence tied it less than a minute
later. The Friars took the lead late in
Vliet with two, Vlasis Aroutzidis
with two, Scott Miller, Holmes,
Matt Chaput, Jared Carr, and
goaltender, Evan Groenestege.
Groenestege picked up his third
victory of the season in net.
Sunday the Lakers hosted the
Cyclones again, handing them a 6-0
loss. Despite only scoring six goals
the Lakers played a much better
game, playing strong defensively
and generating many scoring
chances.
Clayton Fritsch stood tall in goal,
getting the first shutout of the
season.
the second, then added another goal
in the third.
Colgate cut the lead to 3-2, but the
Friars cancelled that then added an
empty-netter with 34 seconds for a
5-2 victory.
Colgate also played Oct. 14
against the Connecticut Huskies.
They lost 3-1.
Scoring for the Lakers were Carr
with two, Chaput with two, Jacob
Brown, and Bartliff.
Assisting on the goals were
Bartliff with two, Holmes with two,
Carr, Tyler Van Drunen, Tyler
Masson, and Van Vliet.
The Lakers played the first place
Waterloo Wolves, Monday night.
Friday night they are in Hamilton —
facing the Reps.
Sunday, the Major Midgets are
back at home against the Kitchener
Jr. Rangers. The game is at 6 p.m.
at the Goderich Maitland Recreation
Centre.
