All branches of the Huron County
Library will be participating in
"Food for Fines" during Ontario
Public Library Week.
From Oct. 16 - 22, the libraries
will accept non-perishable food
items in place of cash for overdue
library fines. This project is offered
through the Huron County Library
in partnership with the Huron
County Health Unit and local food
banks.
"This is a popular initiative among
Ontario's public libraries," said Beth
Ross, county librarian. "It gives
library users the opportunity to clear

stores across the province are
involved in the promotion of Ontario
produce. Stores submit photographs
of their promotions and displays to
qualify for the awards.
There are four award categories.
The Platinum All Seasons awared
recognizes merchandising
excellence with Ontario grown
commodities through spring,
summer and winter.
The Gold award is given to chain
and independent stores in three
specific categories: seasonal,
creative and cross-merchandised.
The Silver award of merit honours
excellence in promoting Ontario
produce in a display.
The award of excellence is
presneted to the top-scoring Ontario
retailers in each store size category,
that have won the platinum award
for consistent year-round
merchandising achievement for two
years in a row.
Don Scrimgeour said he is doubly
proud of the achievement as they
were among many larger centres.
"Most of the others were from
bigger places, so we did very well."
Other stores receiving the Award
of Excellence were from Ottawa,
Windsor, Welland, Listowel and
Sydenham.
Scrimgeour gave credit to his
produce manager Wendy Gaunt.
"She does 90 per cent of this and is
the driving force behind
participating in the first place. She
comes up with the ideas on what to
do. I back her, I help her, but she
deserves the credit."

to the adults was Consider the Lilies.
Rev. McGauley quoted from one of
Emily Dickinson's poems "Consider
the lilies, I never obeyed."
Jesus reminds all that God
provides for the lilies and He will
provide for them. God calls people
to be stewards of the earth, to take
only what they need and give back
the rest.
