Guest organist was Dr. James Hall of Wingham. Ushering were Diana Campbell, Terry Richmond, Karen Glousher and Lavern Clark. Anniversary Sunday is Oct. 29. The picture taking for a new photo directory will be on Nov. 10 and the fail supper is Nov. 18. The invitation to worship was a parade of gifts for which people were thankful. These were brought to the front of the church by the Sunday school children. Blyth was a recipient of Foodland Ontario's Platinum All-Seasons award as well as the Foodland Ontario Award of Excellence. Each year, approximately 1,250 A local grocery retailer was. honoured recently for innovative promotion of Ontario-grown fruits and vegetables. With all the. good weather this weekend, the farmers in the area have been busy taking beans off the fields. Thanksgiving visitors with Don and Marilyn Craig were Nancy and Ed Daer of Wingham and Tricia All branches of the Huron County Library will be participating in "Food for Fines" during Ontario Public Library Week. From Oct. 16 - 22, the libraries will accept non-perishable food items in place of cash for overdue library fines. This project is offered through the Huron County Library in partnership with the Huron County Health Unit and local food banks. "This is a popular initiative among Ontario's public libraries," said Beth Ross, county librarian. "It gives library users the opportunity to clear their record, return overdue stores across the province are involved in the promotion of Ontario produce. Stores submit photographs of their promotions and displays to qualify for the awards. There are four award categories. The Platinum All Seasons awared recognizes merchandising excellence with Ontario grown commodities through spring, summer and winter. The Gold award is given to chain and independent stores in three specific categories: seasonal, creative and cross-merchandised. The Silver award of merit honours excellence in promoting Ontario produce in a display. The award of excellence is presneted to the top-scoring Ontario retailers in each store size category, that have won the platinum award for consistent year-round merchandising achievement for two years in a row. Don Scrimgeour said he is doubly proud of the achievement as they were among many larger centres. "Most of the others were from bigger places, so we did very well." Other stores receiving the Award of Excellence were from Ottawa, Windsor, Welland, Listowel and Sydenham. Scrimgeour gave credit to his produce manager Wendy Gaunt. "She does 90 per cent of this and is the driving force behind participating in the first place. She comes up with the ideas on what to do. I back her, I help her, but she deserves the credit." The awards were sponsored by the After singing of The Lord's Prayer and the lighting of the candle held by Kortney Taggart, the children went down to Sunday school. The choir anthem was Let All Things Now Living. Lavern Clark read the lectionary scripture reading Joel 2: 21-27, the responsive Psalm 126 ,and Matthew 6: 19-33. Rev. Robin McGauley's message to the adults was Consider the Lilies. Rev. McGauley quoted from one of Emily Dickinson's poems "Consider the lilies, I never obeyed." Jesus reminds all that God provides for the lilies and He will provide for them. When we buy Ontario's high-quality food, everyone wins — farmers, retailers and consumers." The awards were presented in Toronto on Oct. 3.
