There are four,to six children with their caregivers attending each week. One activity done in the last couple of weeks was making Dora backpacks - a real hit with the children. They read the story Dora's Backpack, how to count in Spanish and searched for items that began with the letter B. They usually make a craft, sing songs and, play games like Leaf Hokey Pokey. Pretending to hide in leaf piles and jump out is enjoyed by all for a fall game. There is always room for more children and caregivers on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. at Duff's United Church. 'Travelling to Waterloo Theatre were Patty Banks, Gloria Wilbee and Heidi McClure: They attended a musical by Sandy Maaskant entitled Historical Society banquet in Blyth The Huron County Historical Society dinner will be held on Oct.11 at 7 p.m. The annual fall dinner meeting will be held at the Blyth Memorial Hall, Queen Street (main street) Blyth. It will be catered by the Blyth Legion Auxiliary with a roast beef or chicken entree and all the trimmings - always a special treat. Tickets are $20. Reserve a seat and a great evening out by calling Ralph Laviolette at 519-440-6206. The dinner will feature a presentation by Eric Coates, artistic director of the Blyth Theatre. He will tell about the theatre's history and conduct a tour backstage. WHAT ARE ASTHMA TRIGGERS? Common triggers include: • Pollens including tree pollen, grass pollen arid ragweed • Cigarette smoke • Dust and dust mites • Pets and other animals • Food allergies • Weather and air pollution • Cold air and high humidity The rain is still falling and making more, and more farmers more than a little anxious on when they will get to the field. Fields of white beans are looking a little sad and there's lots of beans ready, so let's all pray for about a week of good weather. Congratulations to first-time grandparents. Jack and Nancy Lubbers on the birth of a granddaughter. Proud parents of wee Janelle Marlene are Jeff and Jen Pennings. Congrats to Ron Bennett on Menopositive. It was performed by four women. Visiting with Mary Humphries were son Bob and Nora. They accomplished some very important jobs, some smaller deeds and of course had a great visit with Mom. Jeanne Kirkby has added to her household with the addition of Charlie, the kitten. Jeanne's golden lab Molly is scared stiff of the little one, but Jeanne's sure she will come around. Graeme and Helen Craig were off to the kick-off banquet for the Bruce Plowing Association. Bruce County is the host for the 2008 International Plowing Match and it's never too early to start the serious planning. celebrating his 80th birthday last week. Ron and Pauline enjoyed a family dinner with children Gary and Joan and their families in honour of the occasion. Members of the Huron Perth Cattle Feeders Co-operative met at the Walton Hall for their annual meeting on Wednesday evening. Don and Pat Dalton hosted their customer appreciation day at their farm on Thursday. Patrons of their Pioneer seed business were treated to a pork chop barbecue, great door prizes and a social time. Saturday was not a great day for weather but a great day for more than 40 teams to participate in the Motos for Moms, a cure for cancer fundraiser. It was held at the Lee motocross track, and there were over 150 participants riding the track, raising funds and having a great time. Over $20,000 was raised. Duff's United Church had a good crowd in attendance to worship God in Community. They were greeted to the service by Don and Monique Baan and family. The service was conducted by the diaconal student supply minister Gail Clarkson. The offering was taken by Don Baan and Brian McGavin. Coffee and muffins were enjoyed by all following the service. There will be a presentation by Bill and Karen Butt on their ministry in Mozambique at Belgrave United Church on Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. Would you like to join a local team for Mission and Service Congrats to all who- took part on such a miserable day. Sunday at the Lee farm was an open practice and demo day with only a small participation again due to weather. Walton Hall had its first of many upcoming dinners at the hall. There was only a small crowd in attendance. Funds need to be raised for an upcoming major project. There were some new helpers at the dinner and Anne Ryan, Patty and Cassandra Banks and Krista Shortreed did a great job. Get-well wishes to Barb Durrell who has undergone surgery on her foot. She will be off for quite awhile. There's another barn missing off Moncrieff Road but this time due to people not nature. The old barn was taken down off one of the Terpstra (Hulzebos) farms last week for another change on the line. Action? Contact Gail Clarkson by Oct. 15. The food bank is in desperate need of supplies and any and all contributions would be appreciated. It is Thanksgiving, a time of thanks and a time for giving. Please help if you can to give to others who are in need. A group from Duff's United Church Sunday school went on a field trip to the Seaforth and District FROM WALTON Food Bank. The group made a food donation, toured the .facility' and helped others stock the shelves. The children had made fish with coins as scales and presented them to Angelina Swart, the food bank co- ordinator. Mrs. Swart spoke to the children on how the facility operates and answered questions. The children had a lot of fun while learning about this great community service.
