(favourite cartoon character) - Boys. Teegan Daw, E. Wawanosh; Mason Campbell, Blyth; An anniversary service was held on Sunday evening, Sept. 17 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Belgrave. Rev. Cathrine Campbell conducted the service. The guest speaker was Rev. Rob Congram, minister of Cromarty and Staffa Churches. The topic of his sermon was Holy Ground. Elizabeth Procter was the organist. Cheryl Cronin and Avon Cornell of Blyth, accompanied by Margaret Kai, sang two duets. A time of fellowship was held at the Women's Institute Hall following the service. A craft and garden produce sale was held in Knox United Church, Belgrave on Friday, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 16. There were many Ten Thousand Villages products and shoppers were invited to visit and discover a beautiful assortment of gifts and home decor items, including fairly traded coffee and tea, musical instruments from Cameroon, baskets from Vietnam, and toys from Sri Lanka. All proceeds from these items go to Ten Thousand Villages. A total of $2,800 in merchandise was sold. Ten Thousand Villages provides vital fair income to Third World people by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. There was garden produce from local gardens including a selection of cut flowers, bulbs and fresh and preserved garden produce. Over $200 was raised from the sale of produce. The proceeds go to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, an organization that is involved in the global effort to end hunger.
