BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Sept. 17 were Lois van
Vliet and Myrtle Badley. Guest
organist was Amanda
Schwartzentruber. Ushering were
Brenda Brooks, Lois van Vliet,
Myrtle Badley and Rob Mason.
The choir sang Let There Be Peace
on Earth.
Rev. Robin McGauley invited the
children and teachers to come to the
front of the church for a covenant
service. She asked Lorna Fraser,
representing the teachers and Jon
Hakkers representing the children to
weave a strand of yarn through a
frame. This will be added to
throughout the year.
Brett Glousher carried the candle
down to Sunday school.
Lori Brooks read the scripture
from Mark 8: 27-38. Psalm 19 was
read responsively.
Rev. McGauley read the scripture
from Proverbs 1: 20-33.
Rev. McGauley's message to the
adults was Hearing the Voice of
Wisdom. Lady Wisdom calls out to
slow down and listen to her message.
People have to have a willingness to
be transformed. Those who listen
will live without fear.
At general council they were
asked, "What is growing at the heart
of the United Church?" The answer
was fear, fear of failure, fear of not
having enough.
