THRESHER REUNION
hunger pains
It's been
By Heather: Dietz

Whatever you're craving, you'll be
sure to satisfy your hunger at this
year's Huron Pioneer Thresher
Reunion and Hobby Show this
year.
Barbequed sausage, steamed corn,
hamburgers, roast corn, pizza and so
much more will keep your hunger at
bay from beginning to end.
Blyth Minor Sports will be firing
up the barbeque all weekend selling
sausage on a bun, hamburgers and
french fries at a station between the
two baseball diamonds on the
fairgrounds.
Gary Courtney is returning with
his famous corn roast. You won't
want to miss out on this mouth-
watering favburite.
Courtney gets that savoury
flavour using a well scrubbed, 50-
gallon drum and a large steam
engine. After attaching one end of a
steam line to a valve on the engine
and the other end to a drum,
Courtney packs in 30 dozen ears of
corn, with their husks still on. He sits
back and lets the corn steam itself
to perfection for about 20-30
minutes.
You can try them out for yourself
every evening for about two hours
from Friday until Sunday.
The Huron County Museum
volunteers will be stirring the bean
pot as usual as well as serving some
sweet apple cider to wash down your
meal.
The beans are started early in the
morning and simmer over an open
fire throughout the day. As portions
are ladled out of the big cast iron pot,
more beans are added to the
brew.
Before venturing out to see
the displays and competitions,
visit the Blyth Fire Department
where the firefighters will make sure
you have the energy, to last out the
morning by serving a pancake
breakfast.
Other than pancakes, breakfast
includes bacon, sausage, coffee and
orange juice and will be served
Saturday and Sunday mornings from
7:'30 - 11 a.m. at the fire hall. '
Transportation will be available
from the main walk-in gate to the
fire hall.
Hot meals will be available in the
upstairs auditorium and at
concession stands around the
fairgrounds.
For a hot meal on Sunday the
Blyth Lions Club will provide
lunch and supper at the baseball
diamond.
Trinity Anglican Church will
make sure your steam doesn't run
out towards the end of the night.
They will be serving back bacon on
a bun every night from Friday -
Sunday and all day Friday, Saturday
and Sunday.
The Legion Ladies Auxiliary will
also be serving a supper meal Friday
and Saturday nights from 4 p.m. - 7
p.m. upstairs at the auditorium.
For something different this year,
the Grade 8 students from Blyth
Public School will make sure the
kids are happy with pop and pizza.
Grab a slice and support the
school.

reunion are local non-profit
